STUDS Stage

Another January weekend (21st & 22nd), with windy but otherwise very pleasant weather enabled me to make more progress than I expected. I have been able to complete the stud framing for the walls in 3 x 2 soft wood, using stainless screws to secure to the oak . The oak frame has not been designed to take wind loading so this has been incorporated in the stud work with four of the panels fully cross braced. I have used a further oak post and jointed into the sole and wall plates to frame the side door.

This wet felted studded yellow vessel is perfect for keeping pens, scissors, brushes or anything you just wish. Give this felted bowl as a gift - it will be a piece! Felted things are natural, modern, soft and decorative.

I felt this vessel of fine Merino wool and then decorate bowl with black studs of different size. A thin red line is running around vessel's neck.

Height of this felted vessel is app. 10cm/4 inches and it has 59cm/23 inches around widest part.

January 2009 STUD (Swap Til You Drop) quilt swap - First Fig, inspired by the poem by Edna St. Vincent Millay.

My candle burns at both ends,

It will not last the night.

But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends

It gives a lovely light.

Not quite finished - it still needs to be quilted, which will be a challenge because of all of the seams. Each square is 1" and the quilt will finish at 12".
