I made a short visit to Prees Heath as I do most years just to see the silver-studded blues. There were large numbers out and I was early so saw no one else looking at butterflies.
I suspect that these are both females but I could easily be wrong.

Strobist: 580EX II to the left with 60x60 softbox without diffuser sheet, key light from 300 Ws with 90x90 softbox high right of camera and fill with 70x140 softbox with front diffuser removed.
These studs originally came with a set of Seadogs foot braces, which require long bolts or screws. I shortened them conservatively, to 1 inch, more than enough for standard brand braces. The center photo shows after sanding around the initial application of thickened epoxy. At bottom, I've applied 9 oz. glass with medium thickened epoxy. To finish, I intend to apply a medium sized patch of 6 oz glass, laid on the diagonal.
A side note: Seadogs/Sea-lect braces do not use standard hole spacing! Be warned, if you intend to install a set, especially with glassed-in studs; it makes it difficult and cludgy to swap them out for other brands.

The image was lifted from a free coloring page, altered a bit to highlight the cheese and rat.
Background fabric has a street map of Paris France on it. I thought it was perfect for Joanne's Ratatouille quilt, especially when pared with the veggie fabric.

Last night's sudden strong snowstorm gave me a great chance to try these out on roads and trails in loose snow, packed & rutted snow, and ice. They're fantastic.
The tools I used to create these fun shoes: copper studs, thimbles, a thick and pointy sewing needle and a little paper template of the stud prongs - I poked holes for the prongs with the needle first, as pushing them through alone was not going well...

Another January weekend (21st & 22nd), with windy but otherwise very pleasant weather enabled me to make more progress than I expected. I have been able to complete the stud framing for the walls in 3 x 2 soft wood, using stainless screws to secure to the oak . The oak frame has not been designed to take wind loading so this has been incorporated in the stud work with four of the panels fully cross braced. I have used a further oak post and jointed into the sole and wall plates to frame the side door.
These unique earrings are hand fabricated using actual eject keys from an Apple Macbook keyboard. The computer key acts as a stone where I rely on burnishing the silver bezel around the key to help it stay in place. Earrings are polished, artist's initials on back. Studs are a great conversation starter.
