Studio shot: painting a Cliche Verre negative for a large-scale Cyanotype print. A series called "Beyond George Town: Visions of Penang"

Exhibition in January 2012 at ChinaHouse Art Space, Penang, Malaysia.

Words by Marco, a long-term resident of Penang.

It reads:

in English:

Compared to my hometown, Penang is like a sunny side up tropical egg. Penang has a booming epicenter of trees and nature, and it's hot and it sounds loud... at the same time it's an island with its sheer diversity. wherever I am in the world I miss the street food, the old Chinese men fumbling on their bicycles, and the mixture of smells. And then, I think of it as my home. Penang can drug-induce you into frenzy

A small, nice box I purchased for studs and cuff-links.

Threaded studs to attach the smokebox to the front of the boiler are silver soldered in place. The mirror on the left shows that the silver solder has wetted the joint completely and is visible on the other side. The black color is from the formation of copper oxide also called scale. The scale is cleaned off by pickling in 10% sulphuric acid.

Studer D740 Disc Recorder in idle position

This setup consists of a HD-S (high speed green) phosphor screen, and a 90kV, 15 milliamp real X-ray tube with a 1.5 amp 12 volt hot cathode.

I took the photo running the tube at 60kV and around 2 milliamps.

The exposure took 30 seconds, and the green phosphor shadow was post-processed to turn it into the more recognisable negative cyan X-ray transparency.

I use an old 20D camera because X-rays DO in fact damage CCD's as I found an increasing number of hot pixels on my new camera when I first started making X-ray images.

Work in progress on the TV for the living room.

Hey, I can see my front door from here!

The wall is mostly completely re-framed now, and completely missing all wallboard. We now have generous space for the equipment cabinet, and no longer have any studs that pass through a planned speaker location.
