UC San Diego Structural Engineering Department's 20th Anniversary Celebration

There is an inherent beauty within structural design and engineering. Some of the best structures ever created still can be seen today. When building the components for a long lasting structure, it's always best to start with a solid foundation. Written by Richard Black, Director of Engineering Operations, along with the assistance of many on his team, here are some of the steps necessary during the structural design phase and represent one of the most complex and dynamic tasks in the life-cycle of a project.
