Words have power. They have the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, and to hurt, but the real power in words is their meaning and how they are interpreted. I often fail in my ability to convey in words what I am able to convey with my camera; my voice, my words are found in my images. My photographic approach is to try and capture movement, texture, and color in a framework that hopefully creates a visceral response from the viewer if for no other reason than they have never seen the subject captured in this way. My secondary goal is to tell enough of a story that it leaves you wanting to know more, to see more, to feel more. This is my photographic approach across the full range of subject matters - flora, fauna, humans, still life, even architecture.
My ya’ll is an authentic one being from Houston. After a career as a nurse, I turned towards photography as a way to express myself creatively. Growing up, I thought I would be a librarian by day and author by night. I compromised and found my desire for storytelling was much more suited to being captured by my camera. It still surprises me when others connect strongly to my images and I am honored to have them currently showing in 4 galleries in the US, and 9 images to show in Barcelona in December.
