ECC helps me evaluate my scrappy x-quilt progress. me thinks we both approve.

Need an honest opinion from the quilting pool - nice quilt or too busy? I made it as a birthday gift for someone who isn't particularly quilty and am now having second thoughts...

Top d'un essai de "string quilt" qui comporte un travail sur les valeurs et les couleurs : l'iris au centre ("Ô les beaux yeux !") entouré de blanc, dans un écrin de couleurs qui varient en saturation et en valeur.

Despite the simple design, I absolutely love this quilt! I quilted it with straight lines about an inch apart to give a little extra interest to those larger white squares. Blogged here.

This string quilt is made from all of my very favorite fabrics! It's bright and cheerful, with just a touch of white. And I love it! Blogged here.

Projet largement inspiré du travail de "Simply Robin". 4 blocks pour l'instant : d'autres devraient suivre...

Very windy today. Violet was my paperweight for this photo. :)

the entire quilt (taken blind, quilt laid on the floor, me precariously perched on a chair with arm outstretched!) blogged!

I'm so happy with this one, despite the fact that I didn't end up making it as large as I wanted. I really love looking at all the different fabrics I was able to include. Blogged here.

I have long loved one of Denyse Schmidt's quilts - this one - and when I saw this Melody Miller floral, I knew that I wanted to recreate that design using this print. blogged here.

Help!!

This sweet quilt needs a name! Suggestions?

Also, suggestions on quilting? I'm thinking a meandering stippling but I've never done it before and I'm nervous to do it on my daughter's baby quilt.

I'm so happy to finally have this one finished and on the bed! It ended up being quite large, so I finally decided to send it out to be quilted. blogged here</a..

String quilt with fabrics from Jenean Morrison. A few Kona solids, too. Completed May 2011.

I love this one! It's made of Heather Ross's gorgeous new line, Far Far Away 2. I decided on this design after staring at my latest FMF lattice quilt - this is essentially just the reverse (though not constructed like a string quilt). Blogged here.

Jenean Morrison's fabric Silent Cinema, with a few Kona solids thrown in. Completed May 2011. Lap size.

All finished partner. How about this little wall hanging for your sewing room.

Oh yes, I do love string quilts! This one is made up out of the lovely Ruby line by Bonnie and Camille. Blogged here.

The center of my DQS7 quilt is almost done! I need to add some borders next...

All finished and on its way.....mmmm....south-ish. :)

I made this quilt for my son Evan.

I love string quilts, and I love anna maria horner's little folks line, so this is a perfect match! Blogged here.

This quilt took me nearly 8 months to finally get done. RELIEF! LOVE! It measures 62" by 51" (ish!)

Taking suggestions for a name for this one!!!

I'm so in love with this one! It's most definitely the softest quilt I have! Blogged here.

I still have another blue block to make, and then red ones, and yellow ones. Then I might make some multi coloured ones if I need any extras.

We'll see...I don't like to plan ahead too much

Pretty Ruby! I'm pleased that all my blocks (mostly!) lined up as I was hoping! Blogged here.

**** [ I want to get the back pieced and binding cut for Pat Sloan's Ketchup Weekend: June 19-21 ] **** Didn't happen. :(

(I worked as fast as I could, trying to beat the sun before it set so I could get a good picture of the top pieced. The sun won the race. So, my picture is in dark -- I'll get a better one in a day or so.) (No clouds in the sky... a little too sunny for the picture, but better than the nighttime version!)

–> Inspired by filminthefridge's colorful *Kaleidoscope* string quilt (she even created a tutorial here) – thank you!

As I placed the finished blocks on the design wall to figure out placement, I wanted to make sure same fabrics/colors were scattered *randomly* (like seen here). Then instead, looking for a challenge, I tried to see if I could get the biggest "squares" inside of the brown grid to match up to create colored squares (Does that make sense? See photo's notes if not.). Somehow I was able to get the layout right and it didn't take me too long to get it all to line up. Strangely enough I only had to recreate one block to get everything to work out.

I think the additional *constant* of the colored squares in this crazy/chaotic wonky quilt helps bring some order to it.

Next up, piecing the back. It will be made with as many scraps as I can fit.

Oh! And, what are your thoughts on a BORDER (skip it?) and BINDING? I'd like to use scraps only, so I'm kinda limited. I have a decent amount of red that I could use for either. I also have some orange or that multi-colored stripe that I could use for the binding. Other ideas? Thoughts?

More photos of this quilt's progress here.

Well, this quilt is done :o) It's been a fun journey. I've decided to name it Riot in the Barn. This name comes from two things...everytime I look at this quilt what I see is a riot of color, and the layout of the blocks is called Barn Raising...so, I am combining the two and calling it Riot in the Barn. This quilt is for my wonderful sister, she is such a beautiful person and I love her.

ps...she can rename it if she wants to :o)

I used the great zig zag binding tutorial found on StitchedinColor's blog: www.stitchedincolor.com/2011/11/zigzag-binding-tutorial.html I've never machine stitched the binding before and was pretty nervous. But, I thought that this is a modern quilt and zig zag stitching on the binding will fit right in. It worked great and I'll definitly do it again.

Made with about 6 gallon size ziplock bags of strings about 2 inches and less!! My 6'1" son is attempting to display the quilt, forgive him the sag at the top :) The fabric in the centres of the blocks is Habitat Dandelions by Michele D'Amore for Bernartex.

Time to get sewing! Would there be any interest in me writing up a tutorial for the measurements I used to do these blocks? (Not that you couldn't figure it out yourself -- it's pretty easy -- but sometimes it's just nice to have someone take all the guess work out of it, right?)

See my blog for basic instructions on how to make your own boho baby quilt. www.teaginnydesigns.blogspot.com

It is a string quilt - paper pieced. It is made primarily from Heather Bailey Freshcut fabrics. I'm donating it to Project Linus.
