Day 41

Zombies Just Wanna Hug

I put up some rainbow globe lights and orange and purple string lights. They're right above my bed and I love the canopy of colors. I also got a new shirt yesterday. I thought today would be a good day to wear it since my favorite zombie show, The Walking Dead, premieres it's second season tonight. :)

I tried many different ideas last night for this challenge, but of all of them, Yummy’s string lights pictures came out the best. It was kind of inspired by a picture I did with her a few years ago, I’ll post it later.

I had a good night with string lights tonight! Getting 'flickr' happy!

I shot the Christmas lights hanging in my room today- I just die for stringed lights! I got the blue lights for free (they were apparently from Dollarama) from a friend. I should probably unplug them now because I wouldn't doubt them catching fire to my room.

I learned how to shoot a simple bokeh shot from an online tutorial in under 10 minutes. I've always wondered how people did it, but I never realized how easy it was! The blue lights were a great addition for variety.

Red and Green Christmas Tree Lights

Just in case you were afraid you wouldn't find the Arkansas state capitol. They turned it into a beacon.

The longest night is behind us now...

"So the shortest day came, and the year died,

And everywhere down the centuries of the snow-white world

Came people singing, dancing,

To drive the dark away.

They lighted candles in the winter trees;

They hung their homes with evergreen;

They burned beseeching fires all night long

To keep the year alive,

And when the new year’s sunshine blazed awake

They shouted, reveling.

Through all the frosty ages you can hear them

Echoing behind us—Listen!!

All the long echoes sing the same delight,

This shortest day,

As promise wakens in the sleeping land:

They carol, feast, give thanks,

And dearly love their friends,

And hope for peace.

And so do we, here, now,

This year and every year.

Welcome Yule!"

~ Susan Cooper

We still do "light candles in winter trees", don't we? ;-)
