The end of my old 6mm cord for the rope ring on my climbing harness.
Das Ende meiner alten 6mm Reepschnur für den Seilring an meinem Klettergurt.
Some of the steel strings (there are 29 in total!) of my monochord instrument, that I built this summer.
They are attached to pegs on the sound board, on the upper part of the instrument, which allows to adjust their tension. After going round a smooth 90° bend, they rest on a brass rod that transmits their vibrations to the wooden resonance body.
On a monochord, all the strings are tuned to the same tone. In my case, the last six are made of brass and are tuned an octave lower.

"String is a wonderful thing, rope is thicker, but string is quicker. The meaning of this is obscure, that's why the higher the fewer." Words by Spike Milligan.
Scene is approximately 0.75 inch.
This is green sisal for garden use and is about 1.5mm in diameter. I wound some shiny brass picture wire around it and shot it with 48mm worth of extension tubes on the macro lens, so these are very fine fibres, seen rather close up. The background was some shiny gold styled wrapping, which produced more colours than I expected when lit with a head torch from various angles.

Whoops... too late in the day, I've remembered this string featured in the MM theme "Closed". Well, this is the other end of the string holding the key to our not at all secure security box.

I wish you happy new month October and thank you very much for visit, faves and so kind comments!!
Hemp string wrapped around a tensioning toggle on a Marples bow saw. The saw frame is in the shape of an H. Across the bottom of the H is the location of the saw blade and across the top is the string, wound tight with the toggle. The toggle is kept tight by slipping it down a bit, to rest on the stretcher (horizontal) piece of the frame.
Where the tension is now, a pluck of the blade will emit a sound similar to a low guitar note.
The total size of the saw is 16 inches by 12 high with 4 inch handles extending out each side.
This image is two inches wide.
MACRO MONDAYS "string" theme
Struggled attempting to produce a focused shot, then I noticed the fluffy type material the string was made from, almost like wool.
I had the opportunity to visit an Orchid garden while in the Dominican Republic where there were so many varieties of this beautiful flower.
Thanks for viewing and have a great day!
