Gray Woodpecker
Grau- und Grünspechte werden häufig verwechselt. Beide sind von der Farbe ihres Federkleides nicht zu unterscheiden.
Das sicherste Unterscheidungsmerkmal ist der schwarze Streifen, der beim Grauspecht vom Schnabel nur bis zum Auge reicht. Beim Grünspecht ist er breiter und ragt über das Auge hinaus.
Beim männlichen Grauspecht ist nur der Vorderscheitel bis zur Kopfmitte rot. Beim männlichen Grünspecht ist die gesamte Kopfoberseite bis zum Nacken rot.
Der Grünspecht nimmt seit 20 Jahren kontinuierlich zu, während der sehr viel seltenere Grauspechtbestand eher abnimmt.
Gray and green woodpeckers are often confused. Both are indistinguishable from the color of their plumage.
The safest distinguishing feature is the black stripe, which in the gray woodpecker only extends from the beak to the eye. In the green woodpecker, it is wider and protrudes beyond the eye.
In the male gray woodpecker, only the front part is red up to the middle of the head. In the male green woodpecker, the entire top of the head up to the neck is red.
The green woodpecker has been increasing continuously for 20 years, while the much rarer gray woodpecker population is declining.

The district road R2 from Langenerling to Moosham was upgraded at the end of the 1990s. At that time, the district of Regensburg purchased a 10 m wide strip. This was unique at the time and allowed a row of trees to be planted in the area, which was poor in trees. Thus, a total of 96 winter lime trees were planted on the approx. 2 km long section. This row of lime trees can be seen from far away.
Die Kreisstraße R2 von Langenerling nach Moosham wurde Ende der 1990er Jahre ausgebaut. Der Landkreis Regensburg arwarb damals einen rd. 10 m breiten Streifen. Dies war damals einzigartig und erlaubte, in der baumarmen Flur eine Baumreihe zu setzen. So wurden auf dem ca. 2 km langen Streckenabschnitt insgesamt 96 Winterlinden gepflanzt. Diese Lindenreihe ist schon von weitem zu sehen.

Auch wenn Zebras auf den ersten Blick gleich aussehen, sieht man gerade beim Kopf bei genauerem Hinsehen feine Unterschiede in den Steifen.

Even if zebras look the same at first glance, on closer inspection you can see subtle differences in the stiffs, especially in the head.

... and until a long time into the autumn, these anemones bloom in my garden and stretch everywhere - sometimes it gets tight ;-). At this point, in front of the garage door made of aluminium waved sheet, which here shows the stripes in the background. A bit like rays of light, right?

... und bis lange Zeit in den Herbst hinein blühen diese Anemonen in meinem Garten und recken sich überall hin – manchmal wird es eng ;-). An dieser Stelle gern vor das Garagentor aus Aluminum-Wellblech, das hier die Streifen im Hintergrund abbildet. Ein bisschen wie Lichtstrahlen, oder?

I need a break from the cold and almost monochromatic winter pictures today. I have an urgent need for light, warmth and color.
So I go back to a sunrise in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains last early summer.
The sun, which has just risen, cuts the fog into strips and gradually begins to flood the shadows behind the mountains with warm light. A spectacle I can never get enough of.
And not only because it is an indescribably beautiful sight, but also because of the symbolic power it contains. No matter how impenetrable the darkness seems, the light will always triumph in the end. Because each of us carries this light within us and can carry it into the darkest corners.
Ich brauche heute eine Pause von den kalten und fast monochromen Winterbildern. Ich habe das dringende Bedürfnis nach Licht, Wärme und Farbe.
Also gehe ich zurück zu einem Sonnenaufgang im Elbsandsteingebirge im letzten Frühsommer.
Die gerade aufgegangene Sonne schneidet den Nebel in Streifen und beginnt Stück für Stück die Schatten hinter den Bergen mit warmem Licht zu Fluten. Ein Schauspiel an dem ich mich niemals satt sehen kann.
Und das nicht nur, weil es ein einfach unbeschreiblich schöner Anblick ist, sondern auch wegen der darin enthaltenen Symbolkraft. Ganz gleich, wie undurchdringlich die Dunkelheit zu sein scheint, das Licht wird schlußendlich immer siegen. Denn jeder von uns trägt dieses Licht in sich und kann es so auch in die dunkelsten Winkel tragen.

Erlenzeisig, Girlitz oder Goldammer
Gelb ja gelb sind alle meine Kleider: Das haben alle drei Vögel gemein, doch bei genauem Hinschauen lassen sich klare Unterschiede erkennen: Die Goldammer ist warm gelb gefärbt und weist für die Ammerart typische Streifen im Gesicht auf, während Erlenzeisig und Girlitz ein eher gelb-grünliches Gefieder tragen.

Siskin, Goldfinch or Yellowhammer
Yellow yes yellow are all my clothes: all three birds have this in common, but a closer look reveals clear differences: The yellowhammer is warm yellow in colour and has stripes on its face typical of the bunting species, while the siskin and the serin have more yellow-greenish plumage.

Plötzlich war der Himmel gestreift - es ist stets windig am Strand,
so kann man die hohen Temperaturen besser aushalten.
Schnell ein Handy-Aufnahme.
Oft gehe ich an dieser kleinen Hütte vorbei, wenn ich mit Hund "Dany" unterwegs bin. Während des Sonnenunterganges waren heute am Horizont rosa Streifen zu sehen. Das ist nur selten der Fall.
Often I walk past this little hut when I am traveling with dog "Dany". During the sunset there were pink stripes on the horizon today. That is rarely the case.
