There is a stark beauty in the desert. The ground is a peculiar gray color, with purple-like streaks running up the hard dunes. But there are larger geological formations here too.

The sun setting created some nice streaks in the clouds.

Our morning walk did not disappoint when we saw this Streak-Backed Oriole out of the branches and leaves.

At first glance, I disregarded this image of a streaking female Pine Grosbeak because it was blurry but on closer examination I was intrigued by the artistic feel of it.

The way the water was running off the beach created this streaking effect , which looked quite unusual.

Canon 7D mk ii. 166 30 sec exposures stacked.

Taken a day after the 'Clody sunrise over the falls' image - all the snow and ice had gone so I decided to face the other way and have the water falling away from me. I liked the big, flat reddish rocks shape and how its warm colur contrasted with the icy blue sky and mountains.

This female Red-winged Blackbird has just snatched some green-eyed insect. She was seen at Dufferin Islands, Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Red-winged Blackbirds must be one of the most common birds in North America, yet many people do not recognize the female. She is not black.

Though I have photographed hundreds of female red-wings, I have never noticed one with the slight reddish patch on the shoulder noted in the picture above. (Place cursor on the picture to see the notes.)

Welcome to the jungle.
