This is what happened last night. This is the Northern Hemisphere’s first summer solstice full moon since 1967. A great reason to celebrate and have a toast or five, isn't it?
It has also been called Strawberry Moon as this article in the Independent suggests.
Yesterday, June 04, 2023, the Moon was in a Full Moon phase. The Moon will be visible throughout the night sky rising at sunset in the east and setting with the sunrise the next morning in the west. During a Full Moon the moon is 100% illuminated as seen from Earth and is on the opposite side of the Earth from the Sun. The point at which a Full Moon occurs can be measured down to a fraction of a second. The time it takes between full moons is known as a Synodic month and is 29.530587981 days long. Moongiant
My first time try to shoot the moonrise. The moon will align with the Statue of Liberty during full moon in May and June every year. When the moon just rise to the correct alignment, it looks like the Statue of Liberty is holding the Moon.
This is a single shot, not photoshopped

June 15th, 2022 the morning after the Strawberry Moon. The buildings reflect the morning sunrise as the Moon sinks behind them.
Moon rising over the Sandia Mountains which were sunkissed by the sun setting over the West Mesa. The sky, and the moon were kinda hazy and the clouds made some interesting streaks in the sky. - View from my yard.
We woke up in Sisters, Oregon, to a strawberry moon event which is a big full moon at strawberry harvest time. The moon was setting as the sun was rising giving a glow on the volcanic peaks. Brokentop is on the left and then South, Middle and North Sisters (all a bit over 10,000 ft). There was fresh snow to enhance their beauty.
Getting closer with the moonrise over the needles. Despite the fact I was standing in a nailed on Photopills spot due to the haze by the time the moon showed itself it was a bit further over.
Should be renamed "slippery moon"
Not super happy with this. I think I need a longer lens for this type of photography. Bit of a stretch financially so I might look into a teleconverter!
The name of the Strawberry Moon comes from the Old Farmer's Almanac. This moon was a sign that it was the time for Native Americans to harvest wild strawberries.
The strawberry moon occurs once every 70 years. Typically i forgot all about it and went to bed, woke with a start at about 4 am and remembered. Fortunately the moon was still visible
Awesome to see the Strawberry Moon rise over the Jefferson Memorial on the night of the Summer Solstice. Everyone around Washington, DC's Tidal Basin was stopping to admire how great it looked as it rose up and over the memorial.

This full Moon was called Strawberry Moon, I was bit late to get the strawberry color.

New York City - June 3, 2023: The June 'Strawberry Moon' rises between two apartment buildings in Brooklyn near the Brooklyn Bridge and East River at twilight, New York City.
This is a photo of the recent full moon, known as the 'Strawberry Moon', just before it set over the houseboats and colourful homes at Shoreham. The sun was just rising behind me at the same time and made for some interesting light and colour in the sky.
Thanks for viewing :-)
…and a chorus of clouds…
For today’s SoS group theme “over processed clouds”, I sharpened the haze and upped the contrast.
I take so many photos of clouds, and chose this evening sky capture for something different. The moon is June’s “Strawberry Supermoon” (actually a couple of days before its peak-illumination, full phase.)
Just a quick post today… Happy weekend flickr friends! I am chipping away at my ambitious to-do list, and look forward to checking in on your posts soon :-)))
A big strawberry rising above the horizon in June last year. It was also an exceptional year for the full Moon in June rising very low in the sky for a couple days, a phenomenon called lunar standstill or lunistice with a cycle of 18.6 years. I like the strawberry-like colour that well suit the name though it changed to more yellowish colour quite quickly while rising. Some say that the Strawberry Moon spiritually symbolises gratitude and emotional clarity, and love and prosperity - not at all bad resolutions for new 2026!

Thank you for your visit, favours and comments, much appreciated.

This was a planned image I’ve been wanting to try for some time and was waiting for the day for the full moonrise to align with Start Point Lighthouse. I was ready to run either way along the coastal footpath as I waited in anticipation to see the moon peek over the horizon.

it was a simply lovely evening so Pearl and I strolled down to the beach to watch the full moon come up over the ocean.
A bit hazy, but still very beautiful!
The full Moon in June is called the Strawberry moon that coincides with a short summer period of strawberries, and it is also much more colourful when rising above the horizon compared to other months. This year, it also coincides with the summer solstice and appears full for 3 evenings, the solstice Strawberry moon. Moonrise was around 11 pm, hence two images were taken: one for the moon at 1/30, f8 and the other for the foreground at 5s, f8, blended together in PS. The Cotswold Way, Lansdown. Bath, BANES, England, UK.
Driving about randomly last evening, I saw this full moon rising over the farm. Apparently. it is known as the Strawberry Moon. I was sans tripod, so the ISO and noise are a little high.
This is a composite of two photos. In the main photo, the moon didn't seem as large or as impressive as it did to my eyes. So I zoomed in and took a second shot and superimposed it in post. I guess it wasn't really this big at all, but it kind of seemed like it to me at the time. So, I took some artistic license.
