An art installation by Philadelphia local artist, Brian Bazemore, also know as B Casso, to commemorate the terrible year of 2020. It is located on the grounds of Hatfield House at North 33rd & Girard Avenue in Strawberry Mansion, Philadelphia.

The Strawberry Mansion Bridge is a steel arch truss bridge across the Schuylkill River in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It was built in 1896–1897 by the Phoenix Bridge Company, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.

I had to do something to get out and about, so I went down to Melbourne and photographed some areas I hadn't gotten to, but had been meaning to for a while.

This is the Nannie Lee House of 1905, situated in a rather desolate area between Strawbridge and New Haven Avenues. Today, most Melbourners know it as the Strawberry Mansion. For over twenty years it was a popular restaurant, one of the best known in the county. The house's interior was finished by one of Nannie Lee's friends and neighbors, Claude Beaujean, who was a local boat builder. Much of that carpentry work, last time I was there, ten years ago, was still there. Unfortunately, while I commend the owners for restoring the house and putting it to good use, they have imbued a distinct sense of taste upon the house that can only be described as... er.. different. They've put strawberries on every imaginable surface possible, overdressing what was an average turn of the century upper-middle class home. The porch has been glassed in at some point and the dome-roofed entry porch is not original. The original porch was a very simple thing: without railing and just supported by plain, white round neo-classical columns.

But today, it sits closed. Now, it will become the site of even more high-rise "Luxury Condominiums" Melbourne ought to be ashamed of themselves for letting their waterfront deteriorate to the state it has.

All the same, there are hopes that this building will be spared the wrecking ball and that it will remain where it is. The developer promises that it will be retained as part of the site plan, or be moved to another location. My reaction to that promise? Yeah, right. When pigs floss.

The largest of the Fairmount Park Charms houses, Strawberry Mansion illustrates three distinct phases in American Architecture as well as the lives of two important and distinguished Philadelphians.

The featured stories of this house span over three centuries and incorporate the life of the acclaimed colonial Judge William Lewis (1752-1819) to the national celebration of the Sesquicentennial of 1926 (celebrating America’s 150th anniversary.) Of course the story involves tales of lavish parties and strawberries.

Formerly known as “Summerville,” the center section of Strawberry Mansion was built in the Federal style around 1789 by renowned lawyer, judge and state legislator, William Lewis. During his lifetime, Lewis dominated the American legal field and took on countless high profile cases involving slavery, British debts, privateering, and the Aaron Burr treason case. He is credited for drafting the first law in the US abolishing slavery and was an advisor to both George Washington and Alexander Hamilton.

The dates of operation are from Irvin R. Glazer, PHILADELPHIA THEATERS. He also gives the capacity, 1,000, which would be appropriate for a building of this size.

At the Strawberry Mansion. There have been several old Spanish cannons around for years. This may be the one that used to be outside Harry Goode's outdoor shop, almost across New Haven Ave from this spot. I'm sure it's too heavy to be easily moved far! Condominium in range! FIRE!
