A fenced off rock formation has become a home for a strange mix of objects. On a previous visit I met two men who came out of the building next door and they told me that they were the ones that put the objects on the rocks.
I'll be revisiting this location for the One Photo A Day group that I joined this year.

Oddly enough I saw Robins in this area about a month ago also. Indeed some do not migrate and stick around according to some birding sites. Some robins may stay through the winter in lowlands eating seeds and insects.
Not all survive.
I thought that was pretty interesting.
So I don't know if these are migrating Robins or not!

As you drive through rural countryside, you often find properties where the owner has never thrown a thing out. They are littered with all sorts of stuff. In the city, it would be called hoarding and the neighbours would be up in arms but in the country it's all about expediency, making do, saving money, making your hard earned "buck" stretch as far as possible.
Well we found this thing, yes a letterbox as we headed south towards Tamworth. Notice the opening or slot if you could call it that is an old oil drum tacked into a hole and plate made in the refrigerator door. I love this, it's so Aussie really. And not in itself unique. We also saw microwaves and even the odd stove repurposed along our journey plus of course all the really novel artistic ones. Which reminds me, we found so many a few days later (20+) that I am just going upload this artistic overload in one hit with comments disabled (so it doesn't drive everyone nuts) .....but I do like supporting the Letterbox groups.
I was without my camera, so I decided to shoot with my iPhone.
In the International Women’s Day what is the message? Maybe she want just respect.
Everyday for me is Women’s Day.
Upon returning home from errands one day, Mourning Dove feathers sat piled near the bird feeder and others had blow across the yard. Scuffle marks, over a foot and a half long, marked the skid the hawk made while grabbing its prey. Now, the wind has been wicked here lately. About two days later, I went out to the garden and spotted this feather sticking upright as pictured in the stones. I assume this is a directional tip-off to which direction the Mourning Dove moved after the hawk zeroed in. The circle of life continues...
PS: That's a hose in the photo-no snakes in the yard, YET!
I cannot remember in which store I spotted this sign, but it was available for sale. Any ideas what "sue" is really supposed to be?
My camera says I took this photo on January 22, 2020, but I don't remember taking THIS photo. I WAS in the woods at the edge of the Menantico River & I see trees in this photo, but...

It’s a big big rock on a bigger rock on top of another rock in the ground. 3 bolders really. I have no idea how it got there, who put it there, or why.
In the last couple of years that we have had our Galah friends dropping by, we have seen and experienced some miraculous and amazing things. But this morning took the cake. Firstly, there was a massive disturbance in the force with the kids (the birds) all getting a good frightening by some scary birds with different calls to usual and indeed a flock of Crows in a nearby Gum Tree that were clearly unhappy about something and acting like a mass of irritating Noisy Miners.
And then, well, wonder of all wonders we had this Galah turn up looking like nothing we have ever seen before. We could see no evidence of anything physiological like having mated with a Black Cockatoo or one of the pesky pigeons that hang around - it just looked like it had been rolling around in a BBQ pit full of burnt wood wood. But that didn't really seem plausible at all either. It returned again this afternoon during a feeding frenzy - the frighteners this morning meant no-one had much to eat at all and they were extra hungry. No change in its appearance either, no bath or swim to have a clean in the meantime. You can also see that its beak is also discoloured. A normally coloured Galah is just behind it.
So it remains a total mystery. It showed no signs of illness or injury. If anyone has any idea what has caused this, we would be glad to hear your thoughts.
Christmas is a special time but was also known as the "silly season" back in the days when there were only four TV stations and they ended all their good shows and served up not so good shows during this non-ratings period.
Anyway, I am saying anything can happen I guess during December and in the world of flickr, perhaps it may be the same. So here's a quote, can anyone identify what TV show it came from? For oldies and dedicated enthusiasts (and of this show I wasn't). "Martians use 100% of their brain while humans only use 10%. ...".
Actually something of this order came to my mind when I saw this in an art space in Cleveland, Qld on the south side of Brisbane (in Redlands if you wish to be pedantic). I wasn't entirely sure if it was a strange exhibit or a real portable air-conditioning unit but I was pretty certain it came from the mystery show above....or perhaps Doctor Who! Yep, it's the first Monday in December and we're all confused!
Answers - the quote is from "My Favourite Martian" so if you guessed it, you are probably my age and I reckon it's a real air-conditioner but I am also sure I can see it's arms flailing about while making strange noises!
Melbourne's "weird thing" or "strange place" as others call it. Once the sight of a large gasometer, the tanks concrete base was used as a 2 level underground carpark. During the 1980's the carpark was a failed venture and closed. It now sits abandoned in a field waiting to be discovered by the urban explorer.
30 sec exposure.

lit using a red head lamp, sparklers while Vampire girl lit the whole scene with a xenon torch.
Art is a bit of a theme today. This shot depicts two unusually carved watermelons at the local Carseldine Markets in suburban Brisbane. Isn't that different!
A tomato from my summer garden was looking at me from the table on my porch. I know he looks out of sorts. Do you see the face?
Strange things happen in the dark of night.....but a being of light is nothing to fear. The dark ones now......that's another story.
