This was just one of those days when what was planned just didn’t happen. Two of my friends could not attend and I ended up by my self at the pub after doing some street. I decided to have some food before taking an early evening.
Well it ended late after I offered the seats by my table to a company of friendly people, since I just was about to finish my meal. Then ”Otis” the dog came along and I recognized him as a Vizla and all of a sudden the talk was on. Came home late with this nice portrait of a stranger and her dog

Colour graded edit of a shot from a brief shoot for my '100 Strangers' project, originally captured in November 2019.
I approached Thelma as a complete stranger and she was happy to pose for a few portrait shots on the street. Full details of the encounter are in my '100 Strangers' album "Stranger 84/100 'Thelma'".
I previously uploaded this shot in black and white but for this colour edit I decided to tone things down a little from the two previous colour shots I have uploaded from this shoot. I gave the shot a light muted colour grading treatment in post following some frequency separation work, just to keep my hand in on the technique. Enjoy!

Captured in June 2019, Jim was number 77 in my '100 Strangers' project of street portraits. Jim told me that he never imagined his face to be photogenic, least of all with his nose that had been broken four times, but I begged to differ there. Every face is photogenic and every face has a story or two to tell - we are all beautiful.

Previously unpublished black and white edit of a colour portrait taken on assignment for a charity client in November 2018. The colour shot was used in their online campaign and this is my black and white re-edit of the shot here. Taken on a dark and somewhat miserable day in Barnsley, Mr. Singh ran a market stall in the high street and was no stranger to being photographed for various local news stories. Enjoy!

I'm just back, on 7th May 2021, from my first street shoot in Glasgow for 8 months thanks to lockdown and shielding and well, it was another walk on the wild side. Kat was number 31 in my 100 Stranger challenge and my original upload of her was long overdue for a colour rework and re-edit, given so many new techniques learned over the years. The original was captured in June 2015 and it is hard to believe that I took this five and a half years ago!

Ps. on my calibrated monitor the colours look fine but on my two of my mobile devices the orange is a bit glaring, hope it looks perfectly fine for you.

Posed portrait of Stranger 75 in my 100 Strangers project, Kevin, who was providing a thematic presence at the "Daks over Normandy" ground display on their stop-over at Prestwick International Airport, Scotland.
A tinted black and white edit of my original portrait shot and Kevin was proud to receive the shots I took for him. I can feel a hint of 'nervousness' in this smile as if he were there, with the 82nd Airborne, about to embark upon the unknown on foreign soil. He is posing beside 'D-Day Doll', an aircraft that was a veteran of D-Day, Operation Market Garden, Bastogne and, post war, the Berlin Airlift.

In Remembrance
Captured in May 2019 at the "Daks over Prestwick" event where 11 DC-3 Dakota and C-47 aircraft stopped over at Prestwick International Airport, Scotland, on their way to the D-Day 75th anniversary event in Normandy, France.
A few re-enactors were wandering around the event and I asked this fine fellow in US 82nd Airborne Division uniform to pose for a few shots in front of one of the beautiful Daks.
Remembering those that gave their lives to save us from tyranny and fascism in Europe and across the globe during two world wars.
Through memory, re-enactment and remembrance, we will never forget. They live on in us.
Lest we forget.

An alternate shot from my brief street shoot with Widad, number 93 in my '100 Strangers' project.
I loved this wider head and shoulders' view and it really suited some black and white processing to make her pop out from the street scene behind.
I bumped into Widad in the city a week or so later and she told me how thrilled she was with the photos that I sent to her.

Posed 'stranger' portrait taken for my 100 Strangers project in Glasgow, Scotland.
Cora is stranger #95 in my 100 Strangers project and this is an alternative colour portrait to the one I already posted here. I love that her striking green eyes match the hue of her jacket.
I had been advised to use my failing HDD as little as possible but, before taking it in for data recovery, I pulled a handful of photos onto another drive so that I could keep posting here to Flickr. Fingers are crossed that I don't lose 12 months worth of photos that were not backed up.

Black and white re-edit of a 'stranger portrait' captured in March 2017. Akosua was number 49 in my 100 Strangers Project and keeping her earbuds in was a conscious choice as I wanted to photograph someone enjoying music on the street. This was captured in a previously posted portrait of Akosua with her eyes closed and head tilted back 'Lost in Music'.
