On the BG-11 plate close-up, this is the green colony that extends around the edge of the plate.
Many non-pigmented, motile bacteria are present, interspersed with the algae.

At the end of each day, commencing at 4.50 pm AEST the Memorial farewells visitors with its moving Last Post ceremony. The ceremony begins with the singing of the Australian National Anthem, followed by the poignant strains of a Lament, played by a piper. Visitors are invited to lay wreaths and floral tributes beside the Pool of Reflection. The Roll of Honour in the Cloisters lists the names of more than 102,000 Australians who have given their lives in war and other operations over more than a century. At each ceremony the story behind one of these names will be told. The Ode is then recited, and the ceremony ends with the sounding of the Last Post.
On the first and third Wednesday of each month the Last Post ceremony includes the presence of Australia's Federation Guard. At 4.00 pm a catafalque party mounts a vigil at the Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier in the Hall of Memory. There is a change of guard at 4.30 pm, and the entire catafalque party then participates in the Last Post ceremony.

To enable anyone anywhere in Australia or overseas to view the Last Post ceremony, it is broadcast live daily via webcam on the Memorial’s website from 4.50 pm AEST. The ceremony is a memorable occasion, engaging visitors and offering them the opportunity to remember those Australians who have lost their lives in war and to reflect on their service and sacrifice.

Not the most flattering of photos, but it does make me laugh !
I bought this torture device for my son, for Christmas. I know I am incredibly weak in my arms and core, but had a go at this anyway... problem was - the 2 second delay on the remote. I could barely get my legs up, let alone hold them there. And of course, the more times I tried it, the lower my legs were and the harder it got!!
The first photo my legs were at their highest, but feet and half my head were missing... sod's law.
Good job there was no one around to see me !!!!

The strain of battle, both mental and physical, is mirrored on th face of this tired Company C, 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry, trooper.
On one of the piers in Nailsea church is this chap, acting under duress as a corbel to support the former rood beam. He is in the illustrious company of the bull depicting the evangelist St Luke. He is apparently busy having a not-very-private poo with his bottom facing W towards the congregation. For reasons unknown, Prof. Pevsner calls him 'the angel of St Matthew' - an unusual description to say the least.
Naked figures are not uncommon in medieval sculpture, but I've not heard of this before. Does anyone know of similar examples?
