We are really going through some different times. I can't help but wonder how we'll come out on the other side. My mother went through the depression, and we were never able to throw something away. At my grandfathers farm, if we took a building apart we had to straighten the nails out.
So, I'm wondering, we will forever be afraid to get close to someone. We will always collect toilet paper..;)

Been meaning to put this sunny photo up for a while and kept forgetting....as we have hardly seen the sun in a month, I remembered.
While straightening some trees in the yard a felt a small thud on my back - it was a cone dropped by a Crossbill raiding the trees with a mixed group of it's kind , Later they came for a few seeds from the feeder. Taken through the dining room window
The Newfoundland subspecies, percna, are listed as endangered under both provincial and federal endangered species legislation.
Red Crossbill are a medium-sized finch, which uses its crossed beak to pry open conifer cones.
Red Crossbill are associated with conifer forests, with the highest numbers of observations occurring in the older, mature forests of western Newfoundland. The island of Newfoundland may be the only location where this rare subspecies breeds.
Humans are gregarious animals. Many of us are moving most of the time of thier lives in the shadow of the herd. Here, they are feeling save and secure and it is good that way. But what is protecting us at one side, is likewise restricting us as an idividual.
If I really want to develop and straighten myself it is necessary to step outside and maybe to get wet as well.
This thought can be frightening for some of us, therefore everybody can decide by her/himself how often and how far she/he is willing to walk forward and when it’s time to go back.
So try and see for yourself and find Your own balance.
Der Mensch ist ein Herdentier. Viele von uns bewegen sich die meiste Zeit ihres Lebens im Schatten der Herde. Hier fühlen sie sich sicher und geborgen und das ist auch gut so. Das, was mich auf der einen Seite beschützt, schränkt uns gleichzeitig jedoch als Individuum ein.
Um mich mirklich entfalten und aufrichten zu können ist es von Zeit zu Zeit erforderlich hinaus zu treten und vielleicht auch einmal nass zu werden.
Der Gedanke daran kann für einige beängstigend sein, darum entscheidet jede/jeder für sich, wie oft und wie weit sie/er sich nach vorn wagt und wann es Zeit ist zurück zu gehen.
Also probiere es einfach aus und finde Deine eigene Balance.

This gorgeous macaw was part of the macaw recovery program. He was fairly used to people but was able to fly wherever he wanted. It was wonderful to see the success of this program in action. Taken in North Pantanal, Brazil.

I don't normally do still life, but I had a fridge drawer full of fruit and the grapes were just beautiful (to look at and eat) and begging to be photographed. So naturally I decided on a still life shot.
Other than adding the textured background (to hide my wall), straightening and cropping, there were no colour edits to the image (it is however a composition of two exposures). Lighting provided by a combination of my trusty desk lamp and mother sunshine.

the point of the shot is that the photographer resembles the image she is photographing...a doppleganger? (Ott)...
Straightened mangled and twisted rebar, collected in Sichuan after earthquake (China) in 2008.
About 90 thousand people died, and among these many children at schools, which were of poor construction. To point to failure of authorities in this often by earthquakes visted area, team collected 200 tons twisted rebar, staightened this to be part of installation by Ai Wei Wei.

In the mid-20th century (roughly between 1940 and 1970), the arid south of Tenerife was a major player in the export market. Despite the lack of rain, these channels were built to transport water to the coastal plains to grow tomatoes and bananas.

This was one lunchtime, I always see the shot looking the other way from the Tate towards St Paul's but this opportunity was too good to miss - I had to straighten the wide angle distortion on the shot a little and ideally would have liked he Shard on the left further in.

Eventually I have succumbed to the pressure and straightened this one. I think all you people who asked me to do so were almost right, it doesn’t look too bad!
And for them that don't know what this is - it was taken in the Tate Modern museum a few years ago now, it is inside the Turbine Hall and is a photo of my dad sitting beneath The Weather Project. No photoshop here, except of course, the straightening of the horizon.
