Qualcuno penserà che il Nostro fotografa sempre gli stessi paesaggi....Sono d'accordo, ma l'amore è un sentimento duro a morire, e io AMO quello che vedo e fotografo! Quando sarò stanco, mi metterò a fotografare gatti e pappagalli. Ma sarà un momento duro della mia vita. So much to think about in the past, present and future. Maybe I think about it too much? I smile as a Talking Heads song plays in my mind and remember some lyrics “how did I get here?” - you know the one. A classic Twilight Zone episode also flickers in my mind, Spur of the Moment (S5 E21) - great stuff. Made such an impression on my young mind while watching re-runs in the early ‘80s. A woman is chased by a screaming figure on a dark horse - a warning - I won’t give the rest away. Enjoy your day!

she stood still, map in hand, her fingers tracing paths that twisted and turned, just like the alleys of palma. the plaza mayor was nearby, but it might as well have been miles away in her mind. sunlight cut through the shadows of the old streets, her silhouette cast sharply onto the patterned tiles beneath her feet.
a tourist, no doubt, searching for direction in a city where the streets seem to have a will of their own. the grid of the tiles below her mirrored the confusion—orderly but endless, a maze of lines leading everywhere and nowhere.
the photograph captures that moment of pause, the stillness of someone caught between where they are and where they want to be. palma does that to you, makes you lose yourself before you can find your way again.

a man steps into the light, his shadow stretching further than his thoughts. the lonja stands silent, its walls soaked in centuries, its doors heavy with time. outside, the world moves fast. inside, the air lingers, waiting for the last visitor to leave.
It reached out its long arms to grab at me. My heart stopped but somehow my legs knew to run. Run far away...

WINNER! Photo of the Month for February 2009
When I was posting this seascape on Flickr I was just giving it the title of 'another beautiful sunset'. We seem to have had beautiful vibrant sunsets most days this week. Then the weather forecast came on and the presenter explained:
The clouds are called Sahara Dust clouds;
They appear when the winter sun is lower in the sky;
We see longer wavelength colours; orange, pink and red;
Dust particles in the atmosphere reflect and scatter the light from the sun;
They create vivid reds, oranges, pinks, yellows and purples.
And there's me thinking we just have pretty skies at the moment.
What do you see first? The refreshing water out of the fountain or the man with the bike which is actually no bike? It's always interesting what and how we see things.

Exhibition "Congoville" in the Middelheim open-air museum in Antwerp, Belgium.
Sven Augustijnen (1970) was born in Mechelen, Belgium, and he lives and works in Brussels. Working primarily in film and installation, Augustijnen’s practice has long been exploring political, historical, and social themes, constantly challenging the genre of the documentary and reflecting a wider interest in historiography and a predilection for the nature of storytelling.
This work is a ‘political ghost shrine’ for Patrice Lumumba (1925-1961), the first Prime Minister of the independent Congo.
Lumumba was assassinated by a coalition of Belgian, American and Katangese authorities, but to this day has still not been given a grave. The bicycle had been Lumumba’s preferred means of transportation. The sacks of charcoal and the tree to which the bicycle is attached refer to the tree against which he was executed along with two political companions, and which was probably reduced to ashes to cover all traces. But also, the piece imitates the bike riders carrying homemade charcoal, so common on contemporary Congolese roads. Augustijnen’s assemblage is titled after the airway freight number assigned to the shipment of these objects from the village in which Lumumba was assassinated to Belgium. In the end, the package never arrived. That loss, on the way from Africa to Europe, plus the seriality and anonymity of the administrative code, echo the ‘cold case’ of this murder, and in a broader sense of the Belgian-Congolese post-colonial history. Amidst a mystical fog, this gnarled, moss-covered tree stands, its weathered trunk seeming to whisper tales of times long past. Its ancient branches appear as witnesses to countless seasons, leaving one to wonder: What stories could this tree tell?

I decided to revisit the first image recorded with my camera and make something of it.
Here I added lens blur in Photshop, as well as noise. I then used the black and white channel mixer to create a bit of infrared effect, and added a duotone on top of that. Just trying to create a slightly sideways feeling of reality.
This disused Skating Rink in Norwich does look how I
image a 1950's Nuclear Bunker look in those films of the period. I am especially pleased with the editing because it looks like an image of that period like Ilford colour film.
This is the second picture of this closed skating rink I have uploaded but hopefully it looks a bit more sinister because of the editing with Elements..
