Normally Lake Macquarie is an awesome place unless the storm clouds roll in

Monsoon season in Thailand, on Cheong Mon beach, Samui island. Never before have I seen storm clouds like this as they roll in across the bay. An awesome sight!

Storm Bert has passed (thankfully without too much damage, here at least - I hope that’s the same for everyone). The trees are far more bare than this time last week though! Taken on the Fetternear Estate, Kemnay, Aberdeenshire.

An outflow dominant supercell that was transitioning into a linear storm in central Nebraska. Gotta love the pretty skies out in this part of the country. :)

Rough weather moving in over Occoquan, VA two Springs ago. Image redone using both Capture One Pro 11 and Fuji's Kodachrome film simulation.

The storm made for a good juxtaposition of stability vs chaos. And it's going to be a whale of a storm. : ))

Storm Cloud Evening Colour

On the last day of my Clouds 365 Project, I took my family out storm chasing. We ended driving 8 hours from Dallas to Guymon, Oklahoma to intercept the only storm of the day. What a day it was. I got the image I wanted to end my 5 year project. I captured this one just in case. Hope you enjoy!

Ominous clouds over Port Ann

Brightlingsea Essex.

I love stormy weather and got down to the seafront before high tide .

I took 3 different cameras and stayed down here for about four hours to witness mother nature at full power at high tide.

I took my Pentax K5 llS, Nikon D700 and Nikon D800E and walked around a fairly small area for 4 hours and used all 3 cameras and tried to get some interesting shots from different angles and view points.

The weather changed quite a lot in this 4 hour period overcast, rain and brilliant sunshine so the images are very variable in colour as a result.

A couple of the images I was splashed with sea water which hit the lens, I think this created almost a painting type effect to them

Here's the previous single shot stacked and blended with an additional exposure.

I got soaked just after this!

I took this shot of a storm we got here a couple of weeks ago. This is a field behind my house but the view is blocked by a row of trees. We could hear the rumbling of thunder and walked out behind the trees and saw THIS! Very cool. We watched it for a few minutes, just long enough to take a few shots with my cell phone and then we headed back into the house just in time before the rain started to pour. I was watching the Weather Network tonight and we are going to be getting some active weather overnight and likely more severe tomorrow. Yikes! As cool as they are to watch, they still make me a little nervous...it isn't exactly comforting when a thunderstorm hits and you live in "Tornado Alley" (I live in Southwestern, Ontario)...as for what happens tomorrow? we shall wait and see....

This was a tornado warned supercell, part of the 3/5/2022 Iowa outbreak that also spawned the Winterset, IA tornado, one year ago today. This particular cell, much to my chagrin, never produced anything of desire, though it continually looked promising. I spent 30 minutes wishing, but it wasn't meant to be. It was pretty to watch, nonetheless, as the rotation of the structure was obvious, nearby lightning was minimal, and the rain was west and north. It was a perfect storm, if you will, aside from its imperfections.

Captured just outside Marrar, NSW (Australia). The wheat harvest finished just before the storm rolled through.

Picture of the clouds - we've never seen them look like this before.

Doesnt seem to happen often, but we had a large storm last night. Knowing I would kick myself if I stayed in bed, I got up and got out there in my dressing gown to capture this shot at around 03.30.

A bit of processing to rescue it and remove rain drops and here we are.
