Stor'n'Lok storage units at 630 Dundas Street West, Belleville, Ontario.
One of a series of photographic slides taken by the Keller family of Belleville between 1964 and 1994.
I have seen these remodeled and made into small houses. This is my first one to see what I can come up with. Many single homeless people need housing.
What a frickin' mess! This was not nearly the most stressful moment of my gender transition, but dayum what a pain this was.
Unexpected gender transition efforts: The physical structure of your living quarters. If you're going balls out (heh) in your transition, this is a requirement. Clio's wardrobe grew much larger. Eventually, the closet bar started to bend. After that, the wood that the closet bar were screwed into (it didn't have separate brackets) started to split. Research was made. A reputable replacement was found for $30 on home depot. The replacement simply set atop brackets that had their own screws. After $75 of dollar store hangers were purchased, we were ready. Many months later, we would add another rod to the left of this closet. This represented about $85 of gender transition money.
And it's still not finished 9 months later, because we have another bar to cut and install in another part of the house.
The other hard part was nailing the previous bar over the spiral stairs -- so high you can only reach by standing on a piece of wood balanced atop the railings -- in order to store the old male suits & work clothes.
Transition Progress at this point: On hormones since 8/1 (5 months), but had poor results until starting injections on 12/22 (2 weeks ago; 3 injections so far). Full-time female since 9/15 (3.5 months). Publicly out as trans since 10/11 (2.5 months). Legally female, federally, since 12/21 (2 weeks). Boobs sore/growing since 9/4 (4 months). Had seen endo/primary therapist 5X, and secondary therapists 8X. Weight down to 143lbs (54 down from 197). Hair removal includes 26 electrolysis treatments totaling 20.25 hours; 28 laser hair removal sessions (47 area treatments: 15/14/13/11/8 mouth/goatee/face/neck/armpits, 7 legs/chest, 5 Brazilian/ear); and bi-weekly at-home IPL on arms since 6/17 (7 months). Latisse for eyelash lengthening since 4/17 (9 months). 2 dental implants. Pierced ears. Dyed/layered hair (no haircuts for 3yrs--since 1/2015). Female wardrobe replacement was up to 472 items (1150+ at time of posting this picture). Total transition expenditures over $14,000 at this point. ($55,000 at time of posting this picture.)

The High Cube is the most wanted due to the largest size. Hi cube prices are around $1500 upward here in Tomball/Houston area. The regular 40' varies due to the down turn in the shipping container industry. Cl has them as low as $1000. I am inspecting a 20' this week for $500. I need 10 40's or 20 20's for my 10 home project.

This is a 40' Container that is 50% complete and for sale for $4000. I looked at it today and in the process of buying it for my first livable unit for myself.
This is an Autostitch panorama of the intersection of Bronson Avenue and Catherine Street (which becomes Raymond Street west of Bronson).
This is the southwest corner of what is considered to be the Centretown neighbourhood of central Ottawa, whose geographical limits are formed by Bronson Avenue and the Queensway (Highway 417). West of Bronson Avenue is Centretown West, and south of the Queensway is the Glebe.
Done
I'm done. I can't believe that my Mom got a huge storage unit for $110 a month and it isn't even half full. She didn't put a credit card on file for auto-bill pay. She gave them my contact information and of course she hasn't paid for October (due on the 12th). So, the Dublin number that has been calling my phone was probably them. I got a late notice in the mail that says it is a duplicate that was sent to her.
Not knowing what was in there, Julie and I decided to stop by and check it out today (my Mom had sent me the keys, access card, and combination for her lock weeks ago). Naturally, access had been revoked from the card so we had to go in. We couldn't proceed until we paid the $133.20 that was due (monthly fee, late fee, and tax). So, I paid it. We went to the unit and it had the red lockout lock on it so we went back to the office and had the girl come out and remove that. Then, the keys we had didn't work on the provided lock! So, back to the office and they found the correct keys. We finally were able to open it and were completely stunned by the size of the unit and how little it was filled.
And what is in the unit? Junk. Trash. Old stuff for a house that is worthless.
Why did I pay for this? Why didn't I just turn around and let them seize it and get rid of it? Why didn't I say, "oh, use the credit card you have on file and go ahead and setup auto bill paying"?
The simple fact is I had to know what was in there. Now I know. But I have no idea what to do. I am certainly not paying for another month of rent on that unit.
I haven't talked to my Mom.
Before we went to the unit we had a great lunch with Madison at P.F. Chang's. Yesterday was her last day at school. She has an externship at The Pearl and starts Tuesday. I am very proud of her.
Julie is having a real problem with a UTI so we stopped at the Urgent Care (Giant Eagle Market District) and she got new prescriptions.
Finally, I had a happy hour gig with Ukulele Man & Tryin' Times at The Shrunken Head. This will certainly be our last happy hour gig for the year and maybe our last one at The Shrunken Head. Jon needs to check with them if they want us to keep coming back but it also is seeming like he and Karen might be done with this project. We'll see.
