OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Lens Pro to Go • 52 Week Project Week 6 • "Down"

I'm finding myself re-shooting some of my previous images with my 36mp Nikon D800E.

Getty Images requested my original "Lost" image that was made on my Canon G11 compact camera. "Lost" is one of my favorite images from my Project 365, so I decided to shoot it again in uber high resolution.

The original "Lost" image was truly a found image. This "Lost" image is staged.

I've started a new group and would love too see your best photo of the month:

About 1x12 • 2013 Edition

Are you doing a 365, 52 Weeks, Macro Mondays, Flickr Friday, 100 Strangers, Strobist Sundays, Theme of the Week, etc?

All those projects just too much and you just want to focus on making one great image per month?

We want to see your best photo you created for the month.

Only 1 photo per month and the photo must be a new photo created for that month.

You can start your 1x12 anytime, just make a commitment to yourself to create 1 portfolio worthy image each month.

The New York Yankees are New York City's premiere baseball team (sorry, Mets fans). One of their longest-playing team members in recent memory, is their shortstop and team Captain, Derek Jeter.

Last night was the last home game of the season in the Bronx for the Yankees, and was Jeter's last as shortstop as well. (He may play this weekend in Boston, but in a different position.) Now age 40, Jeter has played half of his life--and his entire baseball career--for the Yankees, wearing the No. 2 shirt. That number which will be retired when Jeter plays his last game, in honor of his years with the team.

During his final game in the Bronx, Jeter made a base hit at the bottom of the 9th inning last night, winning the game for the Bronx Bombers. Not bad for an "old guy" of 40! According to news reports, it was a highly emotional moment. Tears were shed by players and fans alike: an instance of public catharsis and show of affection for a player--and a man--who will be sorely missed!

Jeter is pictured in the billboard to the right of the shot, dressed in Yankee pinstripes, advertising a brand of watches; I'm posting the photo in homage and his tremendous accomplishments--on and off the field.

The photo was made from a a car, traveling uptown ()north) on the the Wist Side Highway. It depicts a neighborhood called Manhattan Valley, or Manhattanville, that is situated between the Upper West Side and Harlem. The railings are those of the (unpopulated) 125th St. subway station platform for the downtown Number 1 train, which is only above ground, for that station. (The train goes below ground again, until Dyckman St (200th St.).

I wish I knew what the gorgeous white, "Grecian temple" look-alike building is! It'a an amazing example of neoclassical architecture, which is used for a lot of banks and court houses in New York City. If anyone has any info on this building--especially when it was built, and for what purpose, I'd love to know!

Clio started injecting progesterone along with her estrogen. Nothin' like shooting up 2 drugs at once? We only see two different needles here: The 21G syringe used to draw (with the yellow tip), and the 25G needle (with the orange base) used to inject. This was before Clio realized that you need to draw from glass ampules [which the Strone-200 comes in] using a filter needle. Oops! Might have injected some glass into her thigh! Don't do that.

Strone 200 progesterone, ampule, bandage, bandaid, estrogen, hormones, injectable progesterone, needle, plastic storage unit, prep pad, progesterone, skull stickers, syringe.

BACKSTORY: Got up around 7:00AM, made it out driving by 8:02AM and went out until 10:59AM for a total of 3 hours. Spent $84.25 plus ~$2.54 gas for 31.3 miles of driving (31.2 mpg @ $2.53/G), for a total cost of $86.79. We drove to 17 yard sales, stopping at 11 (65%) of them. We made 44 purchases (55 items) for a total estimated value of $724.13, leading to a profit/savings of $639.88. So in essence, we multiplied our $84.25 investment by 8.6. (Also, if you think about it, the profit counts for even more when you consider that we have to earn $729.37 on the job, pre-tax, in order to take home the $639.88 in cash that we saved. How long does $639.88 of disposable income take to earn, vs the 3 hrs we spent here?). Anyway, this works out to a *post-tax* "wage" of $127.98/hr as a couple or $63.99/hr per person.

Decomposition is the process by which dead organic substances are broken down into simpler organic or inorganic matter such as carbon dioxide, water, simple sugars and mineral salts. The process is a part of the nutrient cycle and is essential for recycling the finite matter that occupies physical space in the biosphere. Bodies of living organisms begin to decompose shortly after death. Animals, such as worms, also help decompose the organic materials. Organisms that do this are known as decomposers. Although no two organisms decompose in the same way, they all undergo the same sequential stages of decomposition. The science which studies decomposition is generally referred to as taphonomy from the Greek word taphos, meaning tomb. Decomposition can also be a gradual process for organisms that have extended periods of dormancy.

My buddy Santi is a beautiful man and a beautiful musician and I had an idea for a chair series a while back so this is the first of the series I'll be doing with my pal. Got to experiment with mixing ambient with my 3 light setup. Pretty happy with the results but the ones we have planned will have much more going on and with a lot better post. Spent a lot of time on this and I'll post a before at some point to show what I started with. I've been completely swamped with an assortment of things lately but I'm finally winding down on my last first semester of high school and have a trip planned to Oregon during winter break with a whole new set of gear and ideas to go with it. Thanks for looking.

We took Ms. S to get groomed today, and this storage unit was right next door.

This was taken on March 3, 2009. It was the first day that we rented our storage unit. I was dropping stuff off there. I had my polaroid and my d700, so I whipped them out. I was going to take a picture of my feet in my shoes. I always take my shoes off, put them where I want to stand, focus, set the timer, and run back to my shoes. But my shoes alone worked out better than me in my shoes.

This is one of my fave polaroids I've taken. It looks a bit yellower on my screen than it does in the acutal picture. My monitor is due for a calibration. I wish I could remember what box it is packed in.

The home office - the only "boy's room" in the house. Fortunately, Mike shares my taste for Eames and Macs. As for the rest of the decor in this room....

"A capacitor is like a battery in the sense that capacitors and batteries both store electrical energy. A capacitor is much simpler than a battery, although it cannot produce new electrons -- it can store them whereby the battery has two terminals and inside the battery chemical reactions produce electrons on one terminal and absorb electrons on the other terminal." ~Tomitheos

Prime decomposers are bacteria or fungi, though larger scavengers also play an important role in decomposition if the body is accessible to insects, mites and other animals. The most important arthropods that are involved in the process include carrion beetles, mites, the flesh-flies (Sarcophagidae) and blow-flies (Calliphoridae), such as the green bottle flies seen in the summer. In North America, the most important non-insect animals that are typically involved in the process include mammal and bird scavengers, such as coyotes, dogs, wolves, foxes, rats, crows and vultures.[citation needed] Some of these scavengers also remove and scatter bones, which they ingest at a later time. Aquatic and marine environments have break-down agents that include bacteria, fish, crustaceans, fly larvae and other carrion scavengers.

A few things that I recently bought for Dimphy and her Modern Dollhouse.

Found a company in Brenham, Texas that converts containers into houses. The owner gave us a tour. Excellent workman ship. We now take a different direction. We are estimating a 40' completely finished house under 20k.
