I was struggling to find a blanket box that I liked, and because I'm too tight...I'm too fiscally prudent...I have higher spending priorities this month, I've opted to go for a couple of walnut storage boxes.
They're cheap as chips, look great and do the job beautifully. And I can collect them from my local Asda rather than having to wait in for a delivery man. Happy days. :)

From back in the day.
This box was holding about 60 45`s with no sleeves when I got it.
Safe to assume also that it`s owner liked to smoke those funny cigarettes and had a good time with the spiral while listening to the music inside. Either way the box itself is in decent condition though the latch is rusted and some worn spots show at the bottom of the face.
This is a pencil box made from a solid chunk of reclaimed maple, from which I've carved out a space sufficiently large to store a whole box of Dixon Ticonderoga #2 pencils (or colored pencils or pens or data storage devices or small mp3 players).
The crowning glory here is the highly distinctive grain of the reclaimed walnut I used in the sliding lid. When it catches the light just right, I swear I can reach right in and touch the wavy quilted patterns there. Of course, it's all been planed and sanded down very flat and very smooth, so there's no ripples to feel, but the illusion is quite convincing! The lid slides smoothly in the carved slots in the box and I've provided a finger depression to make it oh so easy to access those coveted writing utensiles.
The box and lid have been finished with a mixture of orange oil with beeswax and carnauba wax for an organic look and highly polished feel.

I play an amazing game called Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures. Typically the miniatures are carried in foam and go in a case costing anywhere from $75.00 to $135.00. I didn't want to pay that much so I bought a magazine storage box and decided to illustrate a one-of-a-kind carrying box. I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out. This is the cardboard box with the lid flat.

I hand painted this box with roses and hydrangeas. The inside has many little square compartments that I will use to store probably some beads or sewing supplies.
These old mailboxes have been standing on duty.
I haven't paid much attention to mailboxes until now. (What is it about carrying a camera everywhere you go that seems to open your eyes to so many details around you - and more than that, makes them all seem fascinating?) Anyway, maybe these old boxes are commonplace, but I couldn't resist them. I don't remember seeing one of those green/gray storage boxes since I was a kid in St. Louis in the 60s. That box is dated 1960 and the blue box 1959.
