Oil Cloth Storage Bin to help my daughter organize her sewing supplies on her narrow shelves.
Oil Cloth & Chalk Cloth (for the label) purchased from CityCraft www.citycraftonline.com/
Fabrics used: Stripes in yellow - exterior, Bloom in aqua - Lining & Trim.
Pattern is a slightly modified version of the Small Storage Bin from the book Sewing With Oil Cloth by Kelly McCants. Book also from CityCraft.
Pattern variations - Pieced some oil cloth scraps to create enough "fabric". Used buckram as the interfacing (pattern calls for another layer of oil cloth as interfacing). The buckram added the stiffness I wanted without the bulk of alternatives like Peltex.
This was an easy, fun project which I will definitely make again!
Next time, though, if I piece the fabric, I will make sure that the piecing seams are on the sides of the bin to avoid bulk in the corners.

I thought I'd lost this container and all the figures in it. In fact, I had become certain that I had accidentally disposed of these action figures and parts - so certain was I, in fact, that I had already purchased replacements for some of the smaller accessories.
I had looked through all of my "current" storage tubs three or four times, from the top to the bottom of the stack, taking everything out of the tubs and packing it back in to be sure I did not overlook anything. I had torn through stacks of empty boxes. I'd looked under tables. I'd looked in places where there was no reasonable reason for me to have stashed anything.
I had looked, or I thought I had looked, pretty much everywhere... except, apparently, where I had managed to stash this plastic tub with the missing action figures.
I was looking for something completely unrelated yesterday and in the process I moved some other things, and then I saw a tub that had something else I'd been planning to look for. When I went to move that tub, there was yet another tub on top of it that I had to move first to gain access.
Then I discovered there was STILL ANOTHER tub on top of the one I had almost randomly decided to open, a small plastic tub that had been pushed to the back, hidden under a shelf, and in that hidden, buried tub were the missing figures I had given up for lost.
I can't quite figure how that tub and those figures ended up behind a stack of unrelated items, but I'm thinkin' maybe I have way too many of said "unrelated items" and a major mega-purge is in order.
4 August - A Doll A Day 2024
A BNSF eastbound slips through Cochrane, behind my back, a westbound coming up fast. I took a friend to the river to see a little rail action, he had never been to this area watching trains. First time I've been out here for many years also!

A collection of the old and the new.
Mile marker 2 on this section of the Sangamon Valley Trail runs alongside a collection of grain stores: Bins, Silos and a Grain Elevator. Most of these have been there for a while. The trail itself is relatively new, but sits on what used to be an old railroad right-of-way. The tracks have been replaced with a nice asphalt bike path.
What had me stop was the cell phone and microwave communication towers juxtaposed with the towers of the grain elevators. One of the towers is obvious here, on the right is the microwave tower. The cell tower is hiding in plain sight, just above the center of the image, popping it's head above the grain elevator.
The sky was also so beautiful that day. I had to grab some of it for my memories.

FABRIC BIN- Organizer- BEIGES- BLUES and OFF-WHITE- Extra Large
I used two different prints by Marcus Brothers called "Surf and Sand" to make this fabric bin. The upper part of the bin on the front is pieced together using a paisley print and a polka dot print. For the lower part of the bin, handles and the back I used a coordinating polka dot print. The inside is fully lined.
This bin is quite large and will hold many items. They make great organizers for closets, shelves and childrens rooms. Fill it up with anything you want. Handles are on both sides for easy lifting and carrying.

I'm not really sure what this storage bin is for. It was by some sugarcane fields. Just one of those odd agricultural things that you see dotting the rural flatlands of Louisiana.
We've been having rain almost daily, lately, and the cloudy skies have been luring me away from the house. With such a flat landscape, it's a little hard to find stuff for the subject of the photo! It's always fun to go looking, though...^+^
BABY SLEEPERS AND STARS- Nursery- Fabric Basket
This is such a cute nursery print. It's an assortment of baby sleepers in blue, yellow, and avacado green hanging out to dry. The upper part of the basket is a coordinating print with little stars in blue, yellow, avacado green and purple tossed on a green background. The handles are made from the sleeper print. Avacado green "rick rack" runs across the front of the basket. The inside is fully lined. A green and yellow pacifier that is attached to the handle with a green ribbon is included.

BACKSTORY: Got up around 7:15AM, made it out driving by 7:54AM and went out until 12:45PM for a total of 4.5 hours (stopped to eat and grocery shop). Spent $55.75 plus ~$4.42 gas for 53.5 miles of driving (30.6 mpg @ $2.53/G), for a total cost of $60.17. We drove to 19 yard sales, stopping at 18 (95%) of them. We made 56 purchases (81 items) for a total estimated value of $366.68, leading to a profit/savings of $310.93.So in essence, we multiplied our $55.75 investment by 6.58. (Also, if you think about it, the profit counts for even more when you consider that we have to earn $354.42 on the job, pre-tax, in order to take home the $310.93 in cash that we saved. How long does $310.93 of disposable income take to earn, vs the 4.5 hrs we spent here?) Anyway, this works out to a *post-tax* "wage" of $62.19/hr as a couple or $31.09/hr per person.

This spot on the patio is 2 feet below the rest of the yard, providing wind shelter. I took 2x4s and plywood to create a platform for the shelters, then placed more plywood on top, covered in a tarp.
4 houses under the tarp, with 4 more around the yard. but 3 of the 7 cats have all been sleeping together in the big bin on the left :)
Day 238 of my 365 Project: As part of my 30 Day "D" Challenge, I spent a good portion of today sorting through the "scary closet" in my guest room/library. End result: perfectly organized bins of computer, cleaning, and camera equipment, and now I can actually get to all my bags and inserts again.
(oh come on, you knew the 365 and 30-Day streams were going to cross sometime. :D )

I thought it'd be neat to turn the bubble machine on while Konrad got his bath. Bad idea. I don't know if it's because I made the solution on my own or what, but the bubbles were attracted to themselves, the water and Konrad's head (which had soap/shampoo on it.) They just kept piling up.
Konrad didn't seem to mind, he just kept on playing and watching The Wiggles.
