This A4 came to Excelerate Performance for some performance goodies only to be hit with unexpected bad news.

Damn...Warren, the owner keeps pulling me away from my car to show me stuff. Here is a Stoptech BBK rotor (the same one shown before). According to Warren, Stoptech was having cooling issues with their brakes. Not enough air was getting into the rotor hat to cool the pieces down (if you were unaware, cooling vanes in rotors pull air from the center of the rotor to the outside like a fan). SO to solve the air flow issue they put these gaps in the rotor hats, and they even made them directional to try to suck as much air in a possible.

cuttyman9: But yeah really the only thing from this I want is the fact that it's an LSD diff. I already have an s54

cuttyman9: So I had a stroke of genius, IS350 rotors. 334mm perfect fit with the stoptech calipers off by 3 thousandths (was going to make new brackets but those calipers should work) and the hub register is dead on I believe.

noritoy: @cuttyman9 I thought about using those when I was going to use 205 calipers on a rav4 spindle.

cuttyman9: Yeah I was about to modify the design on the brackets and have my friend make another pair for the sti ones, i needed the caliper toward the center of the car .069" and downward .345" but these will be perfect with my caliper. The calipers are setup for 332mm rotors so 334's will be just right. Should be pretty sweet overall.

noritoy: Keep in mind the biggest the rotors the more unsprung weight. Also make sure the sweep of the pad will make maximum contact at that large a rotor. Some calipers max out at certain diameters. @cuttyman9

cuttyman9: Yeah, the calipers cover the majority of the sti rotors, they were a little high up on the rotor though thus why I was going to make other that were shorter, the wheels I have are super light(16lb 17x9) so hopefully that and the coilovers will offset the heavy front rotors.

cuttyman9: I've taken most of this into account, I think overall I may be a slight bit heavier than stock, but I'm also not building an all out track machine so part of it is for looks. At some point it will be built up to match it's stopping power. Also there's always the idea of 2pc rotors.

cuttyman9: The is350 should also clear the ball joint better which is good. These calipers are setup for 332 so 2mm shouldn't hurt them. They seem to fix all the small imperfections of the system, hopefully they work out.
