This stool is made from two identical pieces of molded plywood. It contains no fasteners. The design was inspired by the way fingers from two hands intertwine.
Designed by Carol Catalano and made in 1999 by Herman Miller, Inc.
Seen at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn, Michigan.

Just a few hundred meters south west of Grimes Grooves Vein is Stool Mine, the western continuation of Smoking Chair / Cricket Stool Vein.
Stool Ball was a medieval bat and ball game that is probably the ancestor of both cricket and baseball. We play a plausible version of the game and it's a lot of fun!
Here a fielder is catching the ball while the runner (in red), bat in hand, heads for the base.

According to Tony this is a Kings stool because it has straight supports.
It is very old - well, a bit older than me! It gets treated rather shabbily considering it is carved on royal lines. I keep it in the bottom of my larder and use it to stand on to reach the top shelf, at some point it has been used to step up while decorating as the paint splatters can testify. Children love it, it is easily portable and is often dragged around by them to perch on.
This is the way Leila likes to arrange her potty. She stands on the stool and then (with an adult holding her hand) steps onto the rim of the potty. She then either squats on the potty and then puts her feet on the floor or puts her feet down so that she's standing, straddling potty before she sits down. She will sit down for only a moment or so before hopping up to begin the process again.
I got these two stools (both looked like the one on the right) from a guy on Craigslist from whom I bought the coffee table. They weren't really my style, but he threw them in for about $15, so I decided to take them.
I bought a skirt in the graphic pattern on the left from H&M, and one day I draped it over the stool, and decided, huh, that would probably look pretty awesome. So the other day, I went back to H&M, bought another skirt, took out the lining and some of the seams, and recovered one of the stools. I usually use one of these in the kitchen, and the new pattern plays off the rug fairly well. I was just going to sell the other stool, but now i might redo it, as well, as I like them so much now.
For all of you who are sick of my apartment exploits, I'm finishing up this weekend, I believe, so i should be back to regular photos thereafter.

I sat looking at this picture.... I really liked it.... not knowing why... I just did... I couldn't come up with a name..... then DFP2746 looks at it and says, " Stool Pigeon, look at it... what else would you call it?" It annoyed me slightly.... because yes it is a stool and a pigeon..... I pondered it for a while.... I still don't know why I like it.... so I can't really name it.....
