I'll be posting a bit right now, but these are just a few photos I took at my photography/graphic design camp. It was a lot of fun and I learned some good stuff, not exactly what I had hoped to learn, but still valuable information. Also, I currently don't have Photoshop, because my hard drive failed and I had to get it replaced and I lost all of my programs. Luckily they saved my pictures, so I didn't have a huge heart attack :P Sorry I haven't been on in ages, I've been away and I'm leaving tomorrow for another two week camp! Once I'm home, I think I'll be getting Photoshop again and I'll hopefully be back to posting often. Miss you guys, hope all is well :)

Stool designed by David Haig and built by me during a 2 week workshop on bending wood at the centre for fine woodworking, Nelson. A very pleasurable process.
My stool is made from American white ash with oak stretchers, and mahogany dowel pins holding the stretchers in place.

This is a stool I've been working on the last few weeks. My goal is to assemble a stool together using thermoforming, and through this, eliminate the need for fasteners. By using what would normally be considered "consequences" of vacuum-forming, the undercuts and trapping of wood add to it's structure.

This stool is being marketed as a "fidget to focus" stool to the ADHD market because of the discovery that movement and actions like doodling can help ADD types better focus. The rounded bottom allows the stool to rock back and forth. There is another stool called the Swopper that offers the same movement on a spring, but it is nearly $800 and this one is half the price. A little less if you get the child size which is what this is. It is made by a European company called Varier.
I tried it out at the recent CHADD conference and liked it because it helped my spine line up better. On the first day in my office it did make me feel much more productive, but that may be due to the Diderot effect. The need to clean up the surroundings when a new purchase is introduced.
