This bald eagle was the subject of attention because he was set to be freed after spending some time in the clinic at Chouette à voir in St-Jude. This shot was taken just a second after leaving the hands of the lucky person who had the honor to hold him for the occasion. A very strong moment for everyone present.
Ce pygargue avait les yeux de plusieurs dizaines de personnes sur lui. Pensionnaire de la clinique de Chouette à voir à St-Jude depuis quelques semaines,il avait été jugé apte à être relâché. Cette image a été prise à peine 1 seconde après avoir quitté les mains de la personne chanceuse choisie pour l'occasion. Un moment particulièrement émouvant pour tous.
Add some panettone, the sweet Italian Christmas bread, to your morning latte. This version was made by a bakery that donates part of the proceeds to St. Jude's Children Hospital, my favorite charity. Win-win........I belaledly discovered folklore says to save a slice till February 3, and this will protect you from sore throats. This was about 10 minutes after I devoured the last slice. Cough....cough.....

Bunny's Challenge for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

This challenge is called #lovingstjude and it is such an easy way of helping a child at St. Jude feel a little better. Here's what it takes:
1. create your V-day card at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital webpage and take a snip or screenshot of the "Thank you" page to show you did it.
2. Take a cute inworld picture of you in Valentine's day attire and use a graphic editing software like Befunky to add the snip or screenshot of the "Thank you" page on your picture.
3. post it on your social media with the hashtag #lovingstjude and nominate three other people to do the challenge as well

La cathédrale Sainte-Cécile d'Albi est bâtie sur un éperon rocheux dominant le Tarn. Deux siècles ont été nécessaires à sa construction, de 1282 à 1480. Elle est classé avec la cité épiscopale d'Albi depuis le 31 juillet 2010 sur la liste du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. L'édifice surprend par le contraste entre son aspect extérieur austère de forteresse militaire et la richesse picturale et sculpturale de son intérieur. La statue de saint Jude fait partie des statues en pierre polychrome placées dans les niches des 35 piliers qui divisent l'enceinte du chœur.
The Sainte-Cécile d'Albi cathedral is built on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Tarn. Two centuries were necessary for its construction, from 1282 to 1480. It is classified with the episcopal city of Albi since July 31, 2010 on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The building surprises with the contrast between its austere exterior look of a military fortress and the pictorial and sculptural richness of its interior. The statue of St. Jude is part of polychrome stone statues placed in the niches of the 35 pillars which divide the choir enclosure.

I found this reproduction of St. Jude hanging on a building facade in the Little Italy district of Boston. In Catholicism, St. Jude is the patron saint of lost causes, a symbol of choosing faith when all seems lost. Many in the world at this time must feel like all seems lost.
I've been through a number of situations in my life where I thought all was lost. Even as I near my seventh decade on this earth, there are a few missing pieces of life that my heart would love to put in place, but I've learned those are things I cannot do on my own. I've learned to be more patient and even to live with the acceptance that I may never find those missing pieces in place while I'm on this earth. Nonetheless, I live in a joyous faith with the daily assurance and companionship of a Jewish carpenter's son who can do what I cannot.

Late night at work tonight, because it was our big meeting for Up 'til Dawn, which is a student-run campaign to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This is the first year this college has participated in Up 'til Dawn, and the group of students I've supervised on this project are really excited and motivated. Raising money for St. Jude is a great cause noy only because St. Jude doesn't charge their patients anything for their care but also because they share their research with hospitals all over the globe.

After some moves at the northern end of the Saint-Jude spur, which now belongs to Transbordement Saint-Hyacinthe (TSH), the crew of CN 519 is heading back to Saint-Hyacinthe yard with GP38-2 No. 4703 pulling half a dozen cars. TSH now owns and operates all trackage north of Martineau street and does its own switching with a Trackmobile.
In the heart of Iqaluit, icefog drapes the city in a spectral hush, softening the edges of snow-laden homes and silhouetting the iconic dome of St. Jude’s Cathedral against a golden Arctic glow.
Elevated dwellings stand resilient on stilts, their muted greens and browns echoing the tundra’s palette, while the vibrant facade of the modern complex in the distance punctuates the scene with warmth and contrast. Power lines and streetlights trace quiet paths through the haze, capturing a moment where infrastructure, tradition, and climate converge in frozen stillness.
Not zero-g but definitely warp speed tonight for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Inspiration4 zero-gravity space puppy, seen here zipping through the tunnel of lights at the Space Coast Lightfest.
Note: No space puppies were injured during this daring EVA maneuver. I'm not kidding -- my 6-year-old daughter had no problem with me sticking my camera on the roof of my car, but the moment I stepped out of the car to put the space puppy on the hood, she *lost* *her* *mind*, even though it's my space puppy. (Yes, we have two, one for her and one for me.) She wouldn't calm down until I stopped and safely retrieved the puppy from the hood.

The Inspiration4 zero-g indicator "space puppy" found some battery-powered festive lights and came out to the beach last night for the SpaceX TurkSat5b Falcon9 launch. It was quite a show.
This is a single, 201-second image. I did some light painting with the iPhone flashlight, but the holiday lights are kinda too much (made worse by the humidity of the beach).
When I showed this photo to Lauren, her immediate reaction was outrage: "You took the doggie to the beach?" followed by "Where is the doggie RIGHT NOW?" (as if I had left the dog out there). But I'm obligated to state that no dogs (stuffed, or otherwise) were harmed during this shoot.
