Cobwebs may be creepy this time of year but they are most welcome if it reduces the stinkbug population by one.

Brown Stinkbug (Euschistus servus) on Prickly Ash in my yard, Eaton County, Michigan. Not to be confused with the invasive pest Brown Marmorated Stinkbug. This one can be an agricultural pest, but is native.

Pentatomidae - Podisus nymphs. This genus of stinkbug is predatory, and though they will eat beneficial insects as well as pests, they are largely beneficial because they eat a great many crop pests.

Brown Marmorated Stink Bug - this thing is just freaking gorgeous. From the nice little head attached to all that body, to the wonderful corroded metal look of the carapace. I'm particularly taken by the sort of scalloped edge around the back of the carapace.
