Science|Business hosted a roundtable discussion of thought leaders and policy to make recommendations as to what the EU should do to improve the infrastructure and research climate for new stem cell technologies and regenerative medicines in Europe.

Researchers have discovered that these T cells, part of the immune system, trigger stem cells in the skin to promote hair growth. Defects in regulatory T cells may be involved in hair loss, such as occurs in alopecia areata.

A competition for radical ideas in the fight against blindness will move to its next phase by challenging participants to build functioning human retina prototypes. The National Eye Institute (NEI) 3-D Retina Organoid Challenge (NEI 3-D ROC 2020) is a $1-million federal prize competition designed to generate lab-grown human retinas from stem cells. Organoids developed for the competition will mimic the structure, organization, and function of the human retina, the light-sensitive tissue in the back of the eye.

18th March. This is my third collection of stem cells. I now have enough stem cells saved for one transplant. Hopefully I will never need them. But it's nice to know I have backup if the cancer does reappear.

The University of Louisville Division of Cardiovascular Medicine presented the 21st Annual Leonard Leight Lecture on December 10, 2014 in Kornhauser Auditorium on the UofL Health Sciences campus.

 

The special guest speaker for 2014 was Victor J. Dzau, M.D., President of the Institute of Medicine.

 

Dr. Dzau presented "Molecular Approaches to Cardiac Regeneration" focusing on understanding cell-based therapy for cardiac regeneration.
