Master Rugh (Ed) and Dylan (the two bald guys in the middle!). Ed was his Tai Kwon Do master - Dylan tested for and received his black belt when he was 11! Ed brought prayers, friendship, support and more from Tai Kwon Do students and masters as far away as Canada when Dylan's most recent cancer was diagnosed. Dylan's t-shirt is autographed by many - including at least one Olympic champion. He is wearing the 2006 TKD National Championship gold medal given to him as a show of support by the recipient of the award. Guess there's more than one kind of champion, isn't there?

Another work of stem cells is making cells and tissues for medical therapies. Now days, donated meat and tissues are of times victimized to exchange those that are diseased or tattered. Alas, the number of people need a transplant far exceeds the number of organs available for transplantation.

We are the proud and lucky parents of Hannah, who will turn 9 this November 2010.
The first year of her life was normal, she then developed a skin-rash and failed gaining weight. In the beginning of 2003 after thorough examinations the diagnosis JMML was confirmed. After a successful search for a stemcell donor she received her new cells in June the same year and thereafter further treatment and check-ups in Uppsala Sweden.
The last check-up in June this year was fine and now more than 7 years have passed since her transplant and she is now in her third year in school. She has had a GVH of the liver which initially was severe and she has needed a long term medication with Cyclosporin which eventually was withdrawn and she is now fine.
She sings in a choir and is enjoying life like any other schoolgirl at her age. She has two loving older brothers and a sweet younger sister Julia 6.
So much has happened and so much knowledge has been spread since the year her diagnosis was explained to us. We thank you for your work that makes and will continue to make a difference to affected families. We support your mission and we are so grateful for all help she's been given. Words cannot describe our thankfulness.

The Government of BC is making a major investment in the BC Biotechnology sector, along with Federal and industry partners. A $138 million state-of-the-art regenerative medicine campus in Burnaby will initially create 675 new bio-tech jobs, and up to 2,170 new jobs by 2031. The facility will help establish Canada as a world leader in the area of regenerative medicine.
Una única célula madre humana, que tiene la capacidad natura para reparar tejido dañado y puede dividirse para producir algunas de las diferentes células que encontramos en el cuerpo. Esta célula se sostiene en una mezcla de productos diseñados para simular su medio natural en el interior del cuerpo, para que los investigadores puedan entender mejor cómo interacciona con su entorno. La célula madre es del interior del hueso de la cadera de una persona sana que donó algo de médula ósea para ayudar a tratar pacientes que desarrollan complicaciones tras recibir un trasplante de médula.

Gregory Chotkowski, DMD is the President of StemSave, Inc. and an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. He has authored several authoritative articles on maxillofacial trauma and reconstruction and has lectured both nationally and internationally. In accordance with its mission, StemSave partners with Dental Professionals to enable them to provide their patients with the opportunity to cryopreserve their own valuable stem cells for future regenerative therapies. Dr. Gregory Chotkowski is a graduate of Boston College and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where he received his DMD degree. He completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Cornell University/New York Presbyterian Hospital and went on to found Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates of Manhattan, P.C. Dr. Chotkowski has been an entrepreneur in multiple settings involving technology and medicine and has consulted for leading hospitals on IT infrastructure, as well as having authored several patents related to data capture. He is an advisor to Caring Technologies, which specializes in developing and providing BI Capture (‘Behavior Image’ video technology) and online tele-health services including a personal health record service for the autism community called MyChildsHealthRecord.com. As the parent of a son afflicted with an as yet incurable form of Muscular Dystrophy, he has a profound understanding of stem cells and a passion for the promise of regenerative medical therapies.
