An earlier motif revisited - this time after nightfall, and with a dark, gloomy b&w finish. I felt reminded of Gotham City.

Artwork to commemorate the end of the mining industry in that region of Germany in 2012. 30 meter high and 1.500 tons of steel.

On a chilly fall night, pedestrians trudge home on Chicago's city streets. The red brakes lights and traffic lights are sending signals to the contrary, but the city doesn't stop.

The Saarpolygon is a striking modern landmark in Germany, located on the Duhamel coal slag heap in Ensdorf, Saarland. This 30-meter-high steel structure symbolizes the transformation of the Saar region from its coal-mining past to a new future. Designed by architects Krebs and Kiefer, the monument is both a sculpture and a viewing platform, offering panoramic views of the Saar Valley.

The Saarpolygon’s geometric design gives it a dynamic, ever-changing appearance depending on the viewer’s angle. It’s especially photogenic at sunrise, sunset, or during blue hour, with dramatic skies adding to its industrial aesthetic. (Quelle/source: Internet)

Brighton's West Pier

For almost a century and a half the West Pier has been Britain’s most iconic pier. Renowned for its wonderful architectural style, it has been visited and enjoyed by millions. Even today with its sculptural remains casting an eerie beauty over the seafront, the West Pier is still the most photographed building in Brighton.

Kalurghat Bridge, Chittagong

Kalurghat Bridge is the first bridge in Karnaphuli River. Kalurghat Bridge an old bridge, once the only link between the southern region of chittagong division on the bank of the river karnafuli with the rest of the country. This 239m long bridge was installed as a simple rail bridge of steel structure between Janalihut and Gomdandi railway stations in 1930. The bridge was commissioned for operation of trains in Chittagong-Dohazari section in the year 1931. Thirty-one years after its inauguration, considering the suffering of the people it was modified with decking and carpeting and turned into a rail and road-bridge in 1962.

this was a humid slightly foggy end of winter day - another of the many of my takes of this neighbourhood tunnel I pass by so often. The main street dips and passes under train tracks next to an old train station with a clocktower. The station now very nicely renovated and used for a sort of flagship liquor store (yes, in Toronto alcohol is still only sold in special government regulated stores). The station was designed by architects Darling and Pearson and built in 1916. At that time it was located at the northern extremity of the city. The city has grown by leaps and bounds and now this is as close as midtown gets to not yet be called downtown. The tunnel though has still the same steel and concrete industrial roughness with a good dose of decay.
