My brother brought me some of his home-grown asparagus - I love asparagus so I decided it was worth getting myself a nice steak and cooking myself steak, chips (double fried Maris Pipers of course) and asparagus.
Needless to say, it was delicious!
Down to the last couple of mouthfulls here. I was very full by this time but I wasn't going to let it beat me!
This is my 2nd keeper of the day with the first sunset of 2013.

The menus of pubs in the UK are divided into three sections: British, Indian and Italian.
"Steak and chips" are British. The chips here are thicker and softer than on the continent.

My brother brought me some of his home-grown asparagus - I love asparagus so I decided it was worth getting myself a nice steak and cooking myself steak, chips (double fried Maris Pipers of course) and asparagus.
And to go with it, my all time favourite drink - pure golden grapefruit juice. I always have lots of this in the fridge.
With all my pictures on the wall, it's a little tiny bit like having a meal with friends, lol!

My 'main' off the Harvester classics steak submenu was an 8 ounce rump steak served with a southern fried onion nest,
grilled tomato, two mushrooms, garden peas and chips.
While the steak was delicious, in hindsight I really should have gone for a bigger 10 ounce 'sirloin' or maybe a 12 ounce 'ribeye' steak (too big most likely) as this fella was a bit on the small side.. :-)

I think it's nigh on impossible to dislike this chain of steak restaurants. The pre-sliced steak (rare obvs) is so meltingly tender there's no need to use the knife and that green sauce is fantastic. The house red is consistently quaffable and cheap as chips. Service can be rushed and abrupt. And it's also good for solo diners despite the elbow to elbow tables.
