Been staying inside for the past couple of weeks, so here’s one from the Archives. It was a beautiful crisp morning when I spotted this little Guy having breakfast on top of a fence. I liked the way the morning sun backlighted Its tail… Brought a Smile, but then I’m easy to please : )

African Elephant / Afrikanischer Elefant (Loxodonta africana)
Amboseli Game Reserve, Kenya, Africa
Sandhill cranes (Grus canadensis; Antigone canadensis) live in North America and Eastern Siberia. However, a few sandhill cranes stay in Izumi, Japan during winter due to straying. In 2019, 7 visitors came. Among them 4 were members of a family. They appeared to be quite relaxed. I wished their safe return to their home in the coming spring.

We have had a very cold week. And last Saturday, on Earth Day it snowed and hailed. But Canada Geese are pretty tough cookies and I have seen mama goose sitting diligently on her nest in snowstorms. T,S, Eliot described April as the "cruelest month", and I would quite agree, but it is also a month filled with beauty.

Big storm was coming in when I took this. The tide is so high that you can't see the dock.
So, it's looks like the Radiation treatments are back on thanks to my daughter. She's recruited my ex wife to come stay with me. Which is pretty amazing when you factor in that my ex is married. My daughter thinks this is just fine. I think it's a little weird but that's the only way it can happen.

A small and shy resident goose of the Indian subcontinent, found throughout the year in freshwater lakes and ponds. They are social birds and always seen in groups of 4 to 6 or more.
The birds are visibly smaller than the other ducks such as Whistling teals and the Spot Billed Ducks found in our region. I love to shoot them in flight, but they fly fast and are quite wary of humans.
Shot them near a lake full of Jacana's and Coots. These goose stayed for a while and then flew away far from human activity..
