The storm shakes out its sheets
against the darkening window:
the glass flinches under thrown hail.
Unhinged, the television slips its hold,
streams into black and white
then silence, as the lines go down.
Her postcards stir on the shelf, tip over;
the lights of Calais trip out one by one.
He cannot tell her
how the geese scull back at twilight,
how the lighthouse walks its beam
across the trenches of the sea.
He cannot tell her how the open night
swings like a door without her,
how he is the lock
and she is the key.

The William G. Mather is a retired Great Lakes bulk freighter. In December, 1987, the steamship was donated to The Great Lakes Historical Society. The Mather is now a museum and is located north of the Great Lakes Science Center at Dock 32, near Cleveland Browns stadium.
This is actually an HDR created from 3 auto-bracketed exposures (-2,0,+2) with Nikon D90 and my Sigma 10-20mm wide angle lens. Processed HDR with Photomatix 3.1, and did the black and white conversion final adjustments in Photoshop. I'm all about color, but it's been quite a while since I've processed one of these 16 bit TIFF's in a high-contrast, monochrome....and it really added to the moody/dramatic feel.
Enjoy the last weekend in July folks, as August will be here before we know it!!!
The sea water looks static and the clouds look dynamic. And both look very smooth. Taken in Garry Point Park, Richmond, BC, Canada. This is a re-processed image.

Another 'Fun for Friday' shot here! A gust of wind and it looks like this guy is getting some Van de Graaff style static going on. His sideways glance at the same time just adds fun to this shot.
Best viewed large.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead - keep those shutters clicking!
This roll of Kodakcolor-X (CX-620. C-22 color-process) was found inside the Kodak Brownie Target Six-20. when I brought the camera. It appeared exposures were made on the roll since it was wind all the way to the end (on the take-up 620 metallic spool) while inside the camera.
From the research I have made on what C-22 is all about, there are only a few labs around who has the capability of processing C-22, which requires a long turn-around time plus a rather costly fee (for what is it) to do so. So I have decided to use B/W film developing chemicals to process it, and hope I am able to get something out of the roll.
• 8 minutes in Ilford Ilfosol S developer 1:9 dilution. 68˚.
• 15 minutes water stop bath/wash.
• 10 minutes Formula 763 rapid film fixer w/hardener.
I had no idea what was on the mystery roll, half expected (and hoping for... haha!) a weird scene. I am guessing the pictures were taken back in the late 60's early 70's based on the girls outfits--since C-22 films were discounted before 1974--I am happy to see that I was able to get images from the cross-processing.
Does anyone out there know where the pictures were taken? I am guessing it's around the Golden Gate Heights neighborhood in San Francisco.
