Wheal Martyn Trust was established as a charity in 1975 by the producers of china clay in Cornwall to preserve and record the history of the west country china clay industry. The site is situated alongside the St. Austell river in a valley which contained several china clay works, including the Gomm Works and Wheal Martyn Works which today form the museum.
The Wheal Martyn museum site incorporates two former china clay works – the Gomm Works and Wheal Martyn Works. The Gomm Works were leased by the Martyn Brothers from the Mount Edgcumbe Estate in about 1878 and were worked until the 1920s. The Wheal Martyn china clay works began working much earlier, in the 1820s. They were started by Elias Martyn on the Carthew Estate, and bought by his father Richard in 1790. Elias became one of the major clay producers in Cornwall. In the 1840s he operated 5 pits and by 1869 was producing 2000 tons of clay a year at Wheal Martyn. After Elias’ death in 1872 the family kept the land at Carthew but his son Richard Uriah Martyn closed down or leased the works to other operators. In the 1880s John Lovering took on the lease at Wheal Martyn. Wheal Martyn pit worked until the effects of poor trade forced its closure in 1931. The Dry continued to operate until 1969, working lower grade clay from pits further up the valley. Wheal Martyn Pit reopened in 1971 and is today operated by Imerys Minerals Ltd.

Now used as a shoving platform, this former C&IM caboose rarely ever leaves the Illinois & Midland's Quiver Yard Limits. Almost always is it parked in the same exact spot, only different cars are coupled to it.

Continuing my Titanfall 2 builds, I can present to you the ridiculously hard-hitting Titan Legion.
Legion is the first Titan I build, which is based on the heavy Ogre chassis from the first game. This allowed me to use some sturdier joints and hinges, which comes in handy to hold the big gatling gun.
I also did some minor changes to Ion, updated his pictures and added one of his back.
Since this is my last build for this year, I just want to use this opportunity to say: THANK YOU! :)
2016 marks my first really active year on flickr and I was absolutely blown away by the amazing feedback!

I've been dying to make this figure since the first pics of Falcon back in 2014, and I finally bought all the pieces! The hair isn't perfect, but I think it's the best at giving off that dreadlock feel until LEGO finally makes a proper dreadlock piece.
This is the most purist version of this figure, since I plan on adding not only his trench coat when I get another blue cape, but also his lightning bolt emblem with a custom decal. I've got another version of Static up too - his original Milestone Comics costume, which is entirely purist too, so check it out!
I actually just finished watching Static Shock all the way through for the first time and I've grown such a love and respect for Static. Even his history outside of the comics is pretty exceptional. I mean, this is a character who had three seasons of animated screen time in the early 00s, rare guest appearances in DC's comics, and only one solo series that was anywhere close to successful, and yet - despite almost never being a part of DC's continuity - has become a massive fan favorite that people keep demanding more of in major DC projects. That alone is insane, and when coupled with creator Dwayne McDuffie's biography, it's downright inspiring.

There are a few other pictures of this East Kent Reliance / Marshall on Flickr, but all taken many years later, when it was in a far more advanced state of decay, with the bus seemingly being held together by numerous layers of red paint ! At least it still had all its windows at this stage.
I gather it arrived here in 1982, on the A58 south of Wetherby, having only made the journey of a few miles from North's yard at Sherburn-in-Elmet. It must surely have gained the record for the country's longest-serving ex-bus static cafe, as it was still here in 2007 at least, and perhaps a few years more. Does anyone know just when it left ?
