Note-Grids are a tool for collecting and connecting objects of thought (in this case, words).

They treat words and other manifestations of thought as objects that can be freely manipulated to create new meaning.

They break meaning up into individual words to facilitate a more fluid, intuitive, and improvisational approach to knowledge production.

A time will come when mannequins will only be seen in museums. I hope not to see this happen during my lifetime.

This is a piece I created on stage 2 of my foundation course. The brief of the project was 'WORD'. I explored different subjects which included using words and certain imagery. One subject I looked at was statements that made impressions, or random impacts. I decided to create the 'smoking is cool' graphic as we are surrounded by negative outlooks on the habit, therefore I stated that it was 'cool' as that is how it is perceived by a lot of young adults these days.

Tom Friedman con mi premisa favorita (la tuve como fondo de pantalla por casi un año).

It may be 17 years since I sold anything, and I'm exempt from having to picket. But I still carry a Guild card (proof that someone once liked something I wrote enough to pay real money for it). And I believe the writers are RIGHT in their fight to hold on to their hardwon residuals, insurance and pension benefits.

Inquiry Statement: What does photography reveal and communicate about the importance, beauty, and ever-presence of mathematics?

Materials:

Fujifilm X-T100 camera

Cannonballs

Christmas ornaments

LrC

Ps

Idea:

Both photos are of spheres arranged in a triangular pyramid (AKA tetrahedron). However, the two images have contrasting color palettes and moods since on the left we are looking at objects of war whereas the right shows holiday decorations. This juxtaposition emphasizes how frequently the same math concept can show up in unexpected contexts that seemingly could not be more different.

Process:

I went to Fort Point to take the cannonball photo. When I was on vacation in Grass Valley about a month later, I saw these bright red Christmas ornaments on main street and it reminded me of the previous photo I took. I originally wanted to also take this one overhead to strengthen the resemblance but there wasn't a good spot to stand for that and I didn't have a big enough tripod either, so I had to settle with what I had. I used Lightroom to enhance both the rusty texture of the cannonballs and the sparkly texture of the ornaments, and I also Photoshopped out a car.

=======================================

Materials: Fujifilm X-T100 camera, 15-45mm standard lens, Cannonballs, Christmas ornaments, LrC, Ps [88]

Idea: Same mathematical shape (tetrahedron) shows up in context of both war weapons & holiday celebration. [100]

Process: Emulated previous photo as closely as I could. LrC to enhance rusty/sparkle texture. Ps'd out a car. [100]

Statement No. 3: The next time I am asked by a tourist to take his or her photograph I will frame the shot so as to crop his or her head from the final picture

I first started photographing graffiti in 1999, and in 2000 I setup a website to share my photos. Initially a mix of different subjects, but it soon became almost entirely of graffiti. I uploaded over 6000 photos to this site. Eventually Flickr came along a few years later and I started using that instead, and stopped updating the website. I shut it down completely a few years ago.

I occasionally get requests from people for photos of pieces by specific graffiti writers, and I thought it might be a good idea to upload them all to Flickr.

Most of these photos were taken on film, scanned, and saved at a small size, back in the day when people were still using 56k modems to connect to the internet and small filesizes were desirable. So apologies for the quality and size for some of these. Someday I'd like to get them all scanned in again at a higher resolution.

Had 6 months worth of bank statements I needed to get rid of. Burning them was the easiest and most efficient way.

Political statement during the speech of the president of China.

June 9 2007, the ship "Götheborg" returned to Sweden. It was designed after an East Indian Company boat that sank 250 years ago. It was rebuilt using the same model and styles of the original, with some improvements added on. It sailed the around the world, following the original path of the original boat, making stops in South America, Asia, Africa and Europe. On this day, the president of China came to Sweden for the return ceremony, where he made a speech alongside the king of Sweden. It seems to mark a converging of economic interests.

I was a volunteer this day so I had a small compact in my pocket that I used to take photos periodically =D.

Are you looking to make a statement with your wedding earrings?

Seattle, and Capitol Hill in particular, has a phenomenal number of anti-Bush bumper stickers, posters, t-shirts and more. This was found on the street. I think it's a political statement of some sort.

Short Statement about my current practice.

Complete redesign of Capital One statement. The brief was to reduce the amount of paper wastage using one colour overprinting, the ultimate goal being to be able to produce a one page statement if there was minimal activity on the account. The new grid system was designed to incorporate varied amounts of messaging for the broad range of customers and also enabled the inclusion of NoDs messaging, negating the need for costly separate letters to be sent out.
