Railroad Museum [for a day] attendees gather to witness United Railroad Historical Society volunteers start U34CH 3372 publicly for the first time in 30 years. Thousands of hours have been poured into the restoration of the sole surviving U34CH, which marks another milestone accomplishment in returning this locomotive into fully operational condition.

I no bird expert but the amount of mounting going on here tells me the breeding colors are not far off

New start to the day, shooting my favourite tree, bit of a tradition trying to get it around this time off, year, when the sun rises pretty much behind and throw in a lovely -5C morning and the clear sky.

Another lovely start to a day in the Riverland.

Inspired by some of the people in Flickr, I tried my luck with water drops.

mmmm it was a bad start :-(....

.. will try for some better ones in the days to come :-)

People I need some information..

How can I manage a steady water drop flow (not in the kitchen sink or a toilet :-))

Noice is evident in the pic.

Need to work on the background.

Some learning for sure...

I'll be back soon.. :-)

The holiday season from Thanksgiving through the New Year is a dangerous time for many of us. Good intentions of eating in moderation seem to get way-laid by thoughts of “well, maybe just one more won’t hurt”.

The most popular starting date for diets is “tomorrow.”

This eagle was quite a ways from me when I took this photo. As I was squinting through the viewfinder, I thought something looked a little off as at first glance he appeared to be the most squat and overweight eagle I had come across.

But when I got the photo up on my monitor at home, I realized his body was facing away from me and his head was completely turned around as he kept me in view. Quite an amazing physical ability that I have only seen replicated by my mother when I was a young lad.

Eagles have 14 neck vertebrae which is twice as many as humans and enables them to rotate their head up to about 180 degrees in each direction. Added note, eagles eyes are fixed in their sockets and do not move like ours.

There's snow on the mountain!

Missisquoi River, looking toward Jay Peak.

Skiers are muttering incoherent things and starting to drool a little.

A different comp fo the first image that I posted from the holiday.

A slight freeing of restrictions, so I'm out in the park with my grandson Charlie. Not bad for a 6 year old................. Still, I would say that wouldn't I ?

BP 457 with the first daylight BTRI starts the climb up Dayton Hill.

There is a little bare ground on the south side of the mountains, but there is still plenty of snow on the valley floor. Spring is coming to the Bear Lake Valley.

A foggy morning on the lake.

At the start of the First World War in 1914 the British Government needed effective communications with frontline troops and replaced messengers on horses with despatch riders on motorcycles. Several models were tested for suitability, and the Triumph Model H was selected. With the rear wheel driven by a belt, the Model H was fitted with a 499 cc air-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder engine. It was also the first Triumph not to be fitted with pedals, so was a true motorcycle.

Engine differences from the previous Model A included a single cam wheel with two cams replacing separate cam wheels for the inlet and exhaust valve, and new design of cylinder casting. Valve head diameter was enlarged, and the valves were spaced further apart. The Model H was fitted with a Sturmey-Archer three-speed countershaft gearbox operated by a hand gear change lever.

More than 30,000 Triumph Model H motorcycles had been produced by the end of the war in 1918. The Triumph Engineering Co Ltd had been using the advertising slogan Trusty Triumph since 1910 and the Model H became known as 'The Trusty' as it proved reliable in wartime conditions, despite a weakness in the front fork spring. This was prone to break on rough ground, so despatch riders would strap a leather belt around it as a precaution.

This 1915 Triumph Model H and beautiful wicker sidecar is one of more than 1,000 British machines on display in the National Motorcycle Museum.

Ohh man this was a nice surprise as it popped out of the side in the corner of my eye ! This is were I began my Winter trip inthe very tip of NE Kansas. Hawthorne is a bitty place that this place sits at or sort of. Join my renthless road trip down lesser known dead roads to nowere~

Wet way to start Spring.

Steam and smoke escape from 12A and G42 as they negotiate the hilly suburb of Selby with the first train of the day to Lakeside.

While out on the lake with my grandson, he picked up my camera and started capturing the scenery. I love that he took interest in the camera and a nature!

Start Point is a promontory in the South Hams district in Devon, England, grid reference SX832370. Close to the most southerly point in the county, it marks the southern limit of Start Bay, which extends northwards to the estuary of the River Dart.

The rocks of the point are greenschist and mica-schist, formed by metamorphism of Devonian sediments during a period of mountain building towards the end of the Carboniferous period.

The name "Start" derives from an Anglo-Saxon word steort, meaning a tail. This root also appears in the names of birds with distinctive tails, like the redstart.

As a result of the many shipwrecks in the area, Start Point lighthouse was built in 1836 to alert ships to the danger of the point and its surrounding rocks. The lighthouse, and the area's birdlife, make it a popular spot for visitors, and Start Point is accessible to walkers from the South West Coast Path.

The Start Point transmitting station is located on top of the promontory, just north-west of the lighthouse. Built in 1939, it nowadays transmits only a single broadcast, BBC Radio 5 Live.

Lamacraft Farm is near Start Point and a quarter of a mile from South Hallsands.

I've been working on this in post production for over a year. Just feels like I should be able to do more with it.

Starting the New Year with some skiing in the Nassfeld area. Happy 2015 to everyone.
