Stark County, with a population of 5,994 at the 2010 census, is situated north of Peoria in west Central Illinois. Toulon, the county seats, is the second largest city in the county and had a population of 1,292 in 2010.
Wie kann es sein, dass der herrlich blühende Magnolienbaum von einem großen, alten und kahlen Baum so unterdrückt wird?
Kommt uns das nicht irgendwie bekannt vor?
Müsste man diesen alten, kahlen Baum dafür nicht absägen oder zumindest stark beschneiden?

Doesn't that sound familiar to us?
Shouldn't this old, bare tree be sawn off or at least heavily pruned?
This image makes me think of the solitude experienced by lightkeepers on long winter nights on the North Atlantic Coast. There is not much warmth, and only the single light to keep you company.
It has been a little while since I brought my Eric Cartman figure anywhere... So, on my drive up to Spray Lakes... I had the bright idea to entitle the photo Stark's Pond as it is featured in South Park cartoon and video game series.
Today it's hard to see it like this, all burnt down, and imagine it will be pretty once more. But nature has an amazing way of fixing itself and already there are signs of life again with grasses and plants growing up out of the ashes.
If only we had politicians in this country with the same determination to get on in life we might have a better country to live in. For the moment they bog us down in a pit of neverending despair because they can't see the light. Parliament needs to be burnt down, and a new and fresh type of government be allowed to establish roots and thrive for the benefit of us all. Burn all the dead wood now!
Sunset on the summit of Holmepark Fell. This plateau is exposed to the prevailing "westerly" winds sweeping in off Morecambe Bay. The amazingly resilient trees that manage to eek out an existence up her on the limestone pavement face the full force of the winds. The shapes they are forced into just add to their mystique.
The sunset accentuates the stark conditions the trees endure here and as a location it is often overlooked by the many thousands of people that race past on the nearby M6 with the fells of the Lake District drawing them in! Long may that continue.

Wann die Kirschblütenzeit ist, kann man schlecht sagen. Denn das ist stark vom Wetter abhängig. Dennoch lässt sich pauschal sagen, dass die Kirschbäume jedes Jahr im Frühling zu blühen anfangen.

Über 50 Jahre lang prägten diesellokbespannte Reisezüge den Verkehr der Südbahn. Waren es anfangs noch vorrangig die Vertreterinnen der Baureihe 215, so kamen im Zuge der Zeit die Loks der BR 218 in größeren Stückmengen zum Bh Ulm, der die Loks für den Großteil der Südbahn-Leistungen stellte.
Bis zum heutigen 11.12.2021 hat sich dies nicht verändert, obgleich durch die Auslieferung der dieselelektrischen BR 245 der Anteil der 218-Leistungen im Regionalverkehr stark zurückging. Mit dem morgigen Fahrplanwechsel startet dann der elektrische Betrieb auf der Südbahn. An den Regio-Dostos fahren die BR 146.2 den Zuglauf zwischen Stuttgart und Lindau jeweils durch, der Großteil der 650- und 612-Leistungen fällt ins Refugium der ET-Baureihen 425 (DB Regio) bzw. 426 (BOB). Auch der hier abgebildete IC, zu dessen Dieselabschied zwei ganz besondere Loks verplant und mit Schildern geschmückt wurden, verkehrt weiterhin (unverändert mit ÖBB-Wagenmaterial), zwischen Stuttgart und Innsbruck künftig von einem ÖBB-Taurus bespannt.
Vor über 15 Jahren stand ich an ebendieser Stelle in der Nähe von Aulendorf, und das nicht zu selten. Viele Stunden habe ich dort verbracht, das Fotografieren gelernt, auch neue Freundschaften entstanden dort. So wählte ich meinen persönlichen Abschiedsort aus fotografischer Sicht natürlich genau dort, "wo aller angefangen hat". 215/225 im oberschwäbischen Güterverkehr, RedBull-Züge mit Ludmilla, die Silberlinge, NE81er der BOB und viele andere Dinge aus dieser Zeit gehören bereits der Vergangenheit an. Heute Nacht gesellt sich der Dieselverkehr (quasi in Gänze) dazu.
Stolz, diese Lokomotivbaureihe selbst führen zu dürfen, geht ein derartiger Abschied natürlich nicht nur aus fotografischer Sicht nahe. Nichtsdestotrotz freue ich mich auf neue Herausforderungen, Baureihen und den Fortschritt, den die Elektrifizierung mit sich bringt, niemals vergessend, "wo ich her komme".
So bleibt mir abschließend und zusammenfassend nur eins zu sagen:
"Eine Ära endet, hoch lebe die 218!"
