I love doing Paper planes

When I was just a little kid, I loved to do paper figures.

I liked doing paper boats when it rained, one of the streets by the house caught quite some water when rainning, which formed like a little river for my paper boats.

I also loved doing paper airplanes, became quite good in them, could do one to fly long distance, ones to aim a spot, one to fly for long times (but short distance).

Doing paper planes put me in trouble at school one day, but it was worth it, it was fun what I did.

Being grounded this weekend, used the time to do some planes at home, at play with them, It as fun as I remember.

PS. Mmm, looking at the image, looks like every photo to the right I am showing more skin and less clothes. Good thing there is no fourth picture, Or is it???

In sombre light, I recorded this image approaching Walton Junction coming off the Kirkby line this morning. It has been a long and protracted demise due to their replacements, the Stadler 777’s, taking an age to enter service.

Six standy units are positioned around the system to cover for failures.

For the record the tour itinery was:

Standy-by.. whats all this then?.... its my first upload in 6 months from a location I first visited 9 months ago and didn`t get to shoot at the time.

Having had an invite to join Fen et al in Cornwall for a few days I headed here for an evening shot.

It`s a popular location with its own unique problems.. chief among them wet feet, tourists and territory wars with other camera weilding die-hards waiting for the "right light"

The hoped for sunset didn`t materialise but the Mount was lit up so that made up for it a bit.

The remote box on the roof of England was especially busy on this Easter Saturday. The block indicators wouldn't have been at "Normal" for long on both day and night shifts, with all WCML traffic diverted over the S&C due to engineering work on the main line.

I don't recall the standby loco having to be used in anger but it made for a good photo alongside the box. The Down Loop has long since been removed.

Now bearing black headlight surrounds (a job done by one of the drivers at the depot whilst on standy), Volvo B7RLE/Wright Eclipse 2 3957 KX12 GZU is seen powering up the Busway to Dunstable on a Z. As can be seen, it's already displaying it's next destination as an A to Luton Airport which it would take up in Dunstable.

Said this before: I always try to record a picture of my outfits to both check the look and for the record.

The jury on this ensemble was mixed. However, we tend to forget that most women live their lives in a modest ordinary looking outfits and this sort of fits with this.... everyday look?.

One thing we did agree on is the makeup. Neither of us was happy with his. The focus was on the lip colour which we both thought made the look a bit bland.

Such a critic but overall happier to be in a skirt than trousers.

Shapfell Limestone Quarry was originally owned by British Steel before becoming part of Corus Group the Anglo Dutch steel maker. In recent years with Corus sold to Indian steel giant Tata the site known as Hardendale to the railway industry has been dispatching less product by rail. Trains used to run daily carrying lime to Teesside but now just one flow remains running three days a week (MWFo) to Margam in South Wales for Port Talbot Abbey Steelworks. The lime on this flow is all containerised rather than the more traditional covered hopper trains that used to run to Lackenby on Teesside. (The wagons left will depart as 6V71 18.30 to Margam Knuckle Yard).

The resident shunt pilot owned by Tata is ex BSC no.272 named Grosmont built by GEC Traction in 1978 (wks no.5470). On this date it had broken down and stands outside the loading bunker while standy loco no.404 idles on the rounding road in the middle. No.404 moved here when Workington Steelworks closed along with sister no.403 but only 404 is operational. It is of similar age to the GECT loco being built by Hunslet Engine Co. Leeds with works no. 8978 of 1979.

From the annual All-Island Eisa Festival in Okinawa

On Service 12 to Ardrossan's Standy Road via to Clyde Terrace

Another board game photograph. It's a purely staged shot - this situation wouldn't be possible in-game, and there'd be some slightly less photogenic hero cardboard standies standing around. Some of the 3-dimensional fortification areas also have the unfortunate tendency to have to hold more miniatures than they actually have space for :D

The game is Horus Heresy from 2010, and is out of print. A bit of a pity, because it really is a rather neat game. Longer than most players thought it would be, and moving armies can be a huge pain (which makes sense due to the massive numbers of units and corresponding logistics involved - each miniature represents tens of thousands of soldiers).

It's an epic strategic wargame, which was packaged in a way that appeals mostly to lighter tactical miniatures gamers (because that's what the Warhammer 40k world stands for). It didn't help that the game doesn't even have dice, but an arguably superior card combat system - which again ran against the expectation of the buckets-of-dice Warhammer crowd ^_^

All in all, an unfortunate bit of marketing mismatch with a game that I actually really like. Not only because it looks awesome.

A view of St. Andrew the fisherman thru Fisheye 2, with Ilford 3200 film.

Not quite the usual view at the Dome at North Greenwich. Lots of First Games Transport vehicles on stand awaiting return journeys to Charlton or for standy by. There is a mix of new Volvo B9s in new Shuttle livery and a few Barbie liveried B9TLs.

And lastly, the extras -

Everyone's seen the keys, so I didn't bother (that, and I forgot to shoot it as well XD ) But I thought people would find the back of the small invitation interesting. Unlike the larger cardboard standy put in the box (that you'll have to cut the extra limbs off of), the back of the small invitation is in the same swirly design motif as the other party elements and the necklace box shares the same engraving on the top of it.

Staring at the swirl pattern on the jewelry box & invitation long enough I noticed that the butterfly on top of the heart design with bat wings is extra special, as the top wings for the butterfly are in fact two bats all there own.

Detailing like this, on something so small, is one of the many reasons I love MH above all other doll lines. Who else would care enough to do that? ;3

THIS WAS THE LARGEST OF THE DRAWBAR GENERATOR TRAILERS AND WAS ALWAYS A CHALLENGE TO POSITION ALONGSIDE MOST OF THE EXCHANGES. BEING AROUND 13'6" TALL BUT ONLY 6'6" WIDE I DOUBT IT THAT IT WOULD PASS A TILT TEST!
