The glacier-capped volcanic peak of Mount Hood (11,249 feet – 3,429 m) rises more than 8,000 feet directly above Lost Lake (3,146 ft – 959 m), our closest favorite summertime retreat in the mountains where I grew up.
My friend Kit enjoying a summer-like day on Lake Mazinaw at Bon Echo Provincial Park, featuring Mazinaw Rock in the backgournd, a 100-metre (330 ft) high granite cliff.
Mazinaw, named for an Algonquin word meaning picture or writing, is the largest rock art site on the southern Canadian Shield and the only major pictograph site in southern Ontario. Photos of the pictographs will soon follow on my photostream.
