"Dear Campaigners,
With over 23 million people standing up to be counted, in 24 hours from October 15th to October 16th, Stand Up Against Poverty, Stand Up for the Millennium Development Goals, became “the largest mobilisation of people in the history of Guinness World Record Breaking”!
That's a sign that part of these people have had the opportunity to show their solidarity and be officialy counted with standing up virtually in SecondLife.
Given the rich history of labor’s association with the creation of
Social Security, you gotta wonder what union leaders think about
President Bush’s privatization plan…perhaps they’re OK with it, given
the relative security of their workers’ pension plans?
Not so much…
John Sweeney, head of the AFL-CIO, recently said, “America’s working
families are being squeezed as never before. Too many people are losing
good jobs, health insurance, pensions and now they face the prospect of
losing the one thing that has been a guarantee for many generations –
Social Security. The president’s plan to privatize Social Security will
take trillions of dollars out of the Social Security trust funds,
further balloon our nation’s deficit, and jeopardize the retirement
security of working families.”

StandUP is a youth lead organisation to promote animal rights to teenagers. This is achieved through links to music, celebrities, sport and entertainment, all of which appeal to the youth demographic.
We will encourage StandUP members to open student groups in their schools, so the important animal rights message reaches as many people as possible.
Many organisations have online divisions for youth, however we will provide on the ground activism as well as online media.
