Great white egrets face off ....

We have two chipmunks that visit the garden. I caught them the other day in a battle over some sunflower seeds. This is the victor standing guard and giving him that “make a move I dare you” look. LOL

Have a wonderful new week Flickr friends. Tina and the Puglets xo

I would like to thank all of you that have taken the time to view and comment on my photos, it is very much appreciated. Constructive criticism and tips on how to improve my novice photography skills are always welcomed.

Lambs have a pause in play

These two wild stallions were exchanging postures in a stand off over who had the right to have his herd in the area. Sometimes it seems this is exactly the posture you see between humans.

I recently watched a PBS show that maintained Hummers hated Bees. As fall approaches the Hummers and the Bees are all enjoying blooms in our backyard and I have seen Hummers chase away bees from blossoms they have their eyes on. A little tomfoolery is visible from the silent shutter I was experimenting with.

At a time when the world is going mad Mexican Standoff by elbow seemed a perfect title. Hopefully like my favourite beach days there's always light after the worst of the storms.

Lucy loves the hot pizza box as much or more than we love the pizza. She often claims the box before we get a chance to get the pizza out. She never gets off the box willingly.

Standoff

Standoff,

But act not.

Something will happen

Beyond everything.

Wait for and watch,

The ice is the stone there.

History will change

The course itself.

At least it looks that way from this perspective ... the elk was just peacefully eating though ;)

The Mink and the Crab continued.

The battle with the Mink and the Crab started when the Mink came out of the sea with the Crabs back legs in it's mouth hoping to get an easy meal but things started going terribly wrong for the Mink immediately.

The Crab having free front pincers attached one to the top of the Minks head. It really hurt the Mink, so it dropped it and then the battle between the two started. The Crab hurt the mink on several occasions more and the Mink finally had enough and went on it's way to look for an easier meal.

Truly amazing to watch.

Striped skunk

This folks IMHO is the best in the series so far. This image took 3 hours to make because of the cat and mouse game the bee played here with this gal, and it would take me more time to explain how it was shot than the whole experience. Just the look on the birds face I think is ........PRICLRSS. Have a great day and thank you as always for visiting.

Aug. 11, two major dust storms (haboob) hit the city of Phoenix. 1st one arrived mid morning, with fierce winds, followed by torrential rain. 2nd storm warning came in for that evening. A couple of us bravely/foolishly ventured into the open desert near Superstition Mountain, to find a good vantage point to photograph the event. Nature didn't let us down. Needless to say, it was exciting and unnerving to be standing there with a big aluminum Manfrotto tripod, as bolts of lightning came down all around us! :)

Monsoon thunderstorm to the East, vs. Dust Storm approaching from the South. It wasn't a big one, dust wall was less than a mile high. Wind speed did hit 62 mph (100 kmph) in some parts of the city.

Crab Spider (family Thomisidae)

On a Seaside Daisy today.

At the opposite end of the ubiquity spectrum from yesterday's Horned Lark was a lone American Badger seen at sunset along the Ecotour Scenic Drive at the Frenchman Valley Campground. With Wild Prairie Man in the lead, we eased our way closer to the badger, counting on its curiosity to hold it in place. That worked just long enough to get a few shots of it peeking at us through the tall grass.

That is the question!

Any ideas?

Unfortunately the Robins spotted me and flew off.

These two took me by surprise, therefore I only managed a quick snap shot.

Soldier Fly (genus Inopus) female

The spider (underneath the blade of grass was wondering whether it could catch the Soldier Fly. In the end she flew off before the spider got a chance.

Have a fab FriYay and a beaut weekend everyone.

Happy Fly Day Friday!
