#arflex - Since its inception, a core value of the Arflex brand has been its design collaborations with architects and engineers, for the cultural experimentation in realizing new products. When architects Neri&Hu were approached to design a seating program, there was a natural desire to place emphasis on the aspect of the construction craft. As such, the genesis of the design concept is the structure itself, a classic triangulated construction that is repeated several times around the chair, so that you can admire it from each point of view. The cow-hide strap that rolls up around the rigid frame covered by fabric, which holds soft cushions, is fixed between the steel structures of the feet, creating in this way a cradle, that gives harmony with the contracts of the materials. The armchair draws both from the rich lineage of Italian furniture, known for its bold sculptural shapes, as well as from the modernist sensibility, that demands an honest structural expression. #arflex -Dom-Ino was a 1914 structural system, designed by the Swiss architect Le Corbusier.

It was an open floor concrete structure with columns to hold it up, which allows to air and light to go inside the building, through large windows. This was the prototype for most construction of contemporary buildings.

The Domino table is almost like a mini-building having columns (legs) that hold up a floor (tabletop). Its six legs are placed seemingly irregularly and protrude through the surface of the table top,

which creates a sort of constructivist composition on the top surface. It’s slightly iconic in its design and can be a centre piece in any kind of space.

#arflex - To develop the new Arcolor sofa for Arflex, Jaime Hayon wanted to create a modular system designed around the classical geometry of the arch. While many modular systems today can be quite square in appearance - in order to enhance their modularity in different configurations -, Hayon employed from the beginning the disciplined use of the arch to create something more organic. The consistency of this approach even applies to the legs, with arches touching the ground.
