California Dreamin on a January Afternoon
Nothing says tropical quite like the bird of paradise. With its large, coarse-textured leaves and long-lasting blooms, bird of paradise plants find themselves at home in any tropical garden. The complex blooms not only look like tropical birds, but also rely on birds for pollination! They last for quite a long time and make fantastic cut flowers.

Yellow-bellied Sapsucker enjoys the delights of the sap from a maple tree while puffing up his chest to look larger or happy about the meal. No pancakes though.
...... more rocky outcrops on the beach that day. This is the last in this little series. I think t's all red sandstone, and the horizontal strata are white due to salt deposit. This is underwater at high tide.
