Home from the New Fantasyland opening events, and while I didn't shoot too many photos due to time restraints I'm looking forward to sharing the shots I do have.
This was an interesting trip for me, and included a lots of 'firsts':
First time I rented a lens from Kingdom Camera Rentals (more to come on that)
First WDW trip where I barely rode any attractions (only hit two if you can beleive that)
First time seeing New Fantasyland in person
First time I've ever worn a tie to the Magic Kingdom
and, most importantly, it was our son, Oliver's first ever trip to a Disney Park.
Needless to say, it was a helluva time.
My take on New Fantasyland is that it's a real treat for those of us who enjoy taking photos at the parks. There is fantastic detail and theming everywhere you look. It's this sheer eye candy that is the biggest attraction to me out of all of New Fantasyland's offerings. At least until Snow White gets her mine coaster up and running :)
So great to have new images to post on Flickr again. Need to renew my pro subscription and do my best to get caught up on all your streams.
Thanks for looking & have a great day.

A Sacristy is defined as a room in a church where a priest prepares for a service, and where vestments and articles of worship are kept. It struck me in Granada Sacristy as if it is more of a backstage dressing room for vain performers to prepare before they go on stage ( the alter ). I was surprised they did not have mirrors on the ceiling.
I recently had this roll of film scanned. I took it to the same place I had my Renaissance Faire photos done. But this time I had a high resolution scan made. They were done on a TIF file, which I reduced to JPEG and tweaked on Photoshop, reducing the size to that which I normally use to post here.
An old friend from college was in L.A. in '83, and he wanted to take in the Universal Studios Tour. I took along my SLR at the time (a Vivitar 400/SL, loaded with Eastman 5293, rated at ASA 250, but could be rated at ASA 500 without pushing). For this I think I rated it at 250 and went with normal processing.
I have several shots of this show. Some of them were blurry, due to the fact that I used a slow shutter speed (about 1/15 of a second), and shooting wide open with my 50mm lens. This is from the second roll, which I had scanned primarily for this shot. I will get the first roll scanned sometime soon.
"Cabaret From The Shadows is a fresh and shameless show with an eclectic mix of theatre, dark comedy and live music; featuring charmingly anarchic characters who will leave your mouth agape as they reveal the depths of your psyche.
They’ll play with your thoughts, chew them up and spit them out in the form of hilarious, dark, sexy and unnerving cabaret.
Expect laughs, expect gasps, and expect the unexpected!
Come let devilry, illusion and mischief seize your heart and soul at the Cabaret From The Shadows!"

Steve Martin primarily a comedian who rose to fame on Saturday Night Live in the 1970’s, is captured in Chicago likely at the Amphitheatre, doing a stage show. It looks like it may have been shot with my 85 mm f1.8 smc takumar lens. Steve Goodman was the opening act.
One of the very good stage shows put on at our hotel in Bayahibe, Dominican Republic, showing the colourful lighting, scenery and beautiful dancers. Hand held with the camera at arms reach over my head and the articulated screen tilted to show me what I was taking. (From a set taken in Oct 2007)

Finding Nemo - the Musical - we watched it this last trip and I have to say that it is probably my new favorite Disney stage show anywhere. It is nothing short of fantastic in my opinion. The only thing that comes close is the Aladdin show out at Disney's California Adventure... so, have you seen the show, and if so, do you like it?

Quick Fact:
The Theater in the Wild holds 1,500 guests and is the largest theater in Disney's Animal Kingdom. It opened with the park on April 22, 1998, and was originally an outdoor amphitheater with its first production being quite a different type of show. Journey into Jungle Book featured songs from the hit Disney movie and created a new style of puppetry that gave the animal characters a look of fantasy while still conveying life-like realism and emotion. Journey into Jungle Book closed in April 1999 and was replaced with Tarzan Rocks!, a live musical based on the Walt Disney animated feature, "Tarzan". The production combined a rock concert performing the hit songs from the movie, with gymnasts, in-line skaters and aerialists giving the energy and action of the characters' story. It ran from July 1999 to January 21, 2006. The Theater in the Wild was then shutdown so it could be fully enclosed and renovated with upgrades to create Nemo's environment. [from AllEars.net]

The Blue Fairy visits the bedroom of a young woman who no longer believes in the power of her dreams during "Disney Dreams," an original musical aboard the Disney Wonder.
"Disney Dreams" is a truly impressive production with elaborate sets, costumes and effects and a simple but classic story. It's all the more impressive for being performed on a cruise ship!
