Day 9. It is MandaKemp 's birthday today, and as generous as ever I bought her some colouring pencils as a birthday gift. I'm not that mean though, I did get a colouring book to go with it too.
MACRO MONDAYS “Brand and Logos” theme
"For Johann Sebastian Staedtler, a fascination for pencils ran in the family: his ancestor, Friedrich Staedtler, worked as a ‘pencil-making craftsman’. In 1662, Friedrich Staedtler was mentioned for the first time in the official records of Nuremberg – and his descendants are continuing the family tradition"
Today is probably the most known brand from all that I have presented... Staedtler.

I was really stuck in finding a rubber/eraser for the theme. Searched in all my drawers but no luck. Looked at all the pens and stuff that my grandkids have at our house but still no luck.
Gave up!……..then a distant memory crept into view………those old Staedtler mechanical, self-propelling pencils from the 80’s that I used to love had a rubber/eraser. Hidden away in the garage in some box. A quick search turned up the pencils and so here they are, perfect for the theme today.

Squashed between a vice, it seems that someone is trying to erase smiley, rub him out maybe!!! Who knows?
This eraser is a Staedtler Mar's Plastic, it's used for erasing mistakes from paper or film.

I received a set of fibre-tip pens for my birthday: flic.kr/p/2n9KVGr
A few colours are very close, the caps don't indicate accurately, and the pens aren't labelled or otherwise distinguishable. So I gave them names and made a swatch chart. Fussy perhaps, but enjoyable because I'm obsessed with colour. Now it will be easier to choose the pen I want.
Thank you to everyone who visits, faves, and comments.
Two items that have lived with me since the 1970s, a Staedtler Mars Plastic eraser, still pristine beneath its cardboard jacket, and a sharp blade used for scratching letters off film or literally cutting and pasting corrections on film.
Staedtler pen sketch. I started to draw the airliner in front of me but it was quickly towed away, but I kept drawing and the sketch took on a kind-of time lapsed quality which I liked in the end.

Today's prompt was An Ant. I chose a flying ant.
There were a lot of these scary looking insects flying around last year. Don't worry though, they're not really this size!

Plenty of pencil sharpening took place in preparing for tomorrows solution review.
The Staedtler Noris 'B' grade is my favourite pencil. Whilst you can find the 'HB' grade by the bucketful the 'B' is not as common so I order mine in packs of 12 from Amazon. I go through a lot of these so need to have plenty in stock.

On 22nd September 1992 we moved from Ashford in Kent to Acomb on the western side of York. Our street, Jute Road, climbs a slight hill a short distance from our house. From there York Minster can be seen over the houses, lying almost due east from my viewpoint. In the foreground is Dane Avenue, with Viking Road just behind. The further trees are on Severus Hill, reputedly the site of the funeral of the Roman emperor Severus Septimus who died on campaign in Britain. Drawn with Staedtler Pigment Liner, 0.3 and 0.05 pens in an A4 cartridge paper sketchbook.

The coronavirus pandemic rumbles on. As it is a Wednesday it is the day to wash out the face masks my wife and son have worn so far this week for their work places. Carolynn works in a junior school and wears a couple of masks per day, Richard uses his masks for the bus to get to work (his employer provides a couple of paper masks for use in the office). I have worn a mask myself this week, to take Carolynn for her vaccination isn't his new ritual has become firmly established now, interesting how we adapt to such things. Meanwhile Wallace, Gromit and Shaun mark time with their bobbing heads in the sunshine. Drawn with a Staedtler Pigment Liner pen and watercolours in an A4 sketchbook that is mostly filled with sketches done during the pandemic.
A new commission getting underway. Like most of my recent commissions I am starting with a carefully worked pencil study. Drawn with a Staedtler 0.3mm pencil on a sheet of Lanton watercolour paper.

A different part of the view from the large window in the front bedroom, my son's room. This looks over Viking Road towards Tostig Avenue, the street names in our neighbourhood taking York's Viking heritage for inspiration. Drawn with a Staedtler Pigment Liner 0.05 pen which wears out very quickly on the paper of the A4 Ebony sketchbook..
