Stacks docklet for Rocketdock

Roanhead, Duddon Estuary. Stone Stacks - very therapeutic building these :-)

Former Adirondack Power and Light plant at Amsterdam, NY on the Erie Canal just upstream of lock E10. The canal follows the Mohawk River here.

As a teen, I traveled the Erie Canal and was fascinated by this plant as we passed on the boat. That was in the late 70's and it was not in use then ether. The 1923 edition of Babcock & Wilcox "Steam, Its Generation and Use" shows an earlier version of the plant consisting of 2 stacks and ending at the third window from the water intake house.

Photographed using a NIkon f with a Nikkor 80-400 VR lens (no, the VR does not work on the F :) Exposure by sunny 16.

so many thumbnails disappoint don't they?

I'm sure you've all seen the really cool rock-stacking-kids... Well, I'm not quite there yet... But I can dream!

Had an idea to stack my fried chicken like pebbles ( Example : www.brentwood.gov.uk/content_images/web/size600/664302062...)

Not sure if that was a good idea, but it was still some pretty damned good oven fried chicken.

stacked 3 frames of 30 second exposure to produce this image of multiple meteors

Demonstrates stacking for more sensitivity.

The objects depicted here are stars south and west of the Orion nebula; they were taken at ƒ2.8 with Canon's 100mm macro lens using 3.2 second exposures and manual non-critical focus from a tripod with 2s shutter delay for stability.

The stack consists of 12 images; at the left, you see the result of taking the stack as 12/6ths per pixel, resulting in a gain of two and a noise reduction of 6x; at the right, you see the result of taking the stack as 12/3rds per pixel, which results in a gain of four and a noise reduction of 3x.

I've got an example showing gain of one (unity) and noise reduction of 12x, as well as a single frame from the stack of 12, here.

8 photo stacked together from lightning that was over 30 miles away. This storm went on for about one hour.

Stacked from 3 exposures on a live subject. One of the few cooperative dragonflies I came across today, most of the others wouldn't let me get within 5 feet. This one didn't seem to mind me laying inches from him snapping photo after photo...

Got some nice weather today and thought I would try my first stack of a living subject. After being frustrated by a few flies which refused to sit still, I came across some wolf spiders (picture is of a male Pardosa amentata) sunning themselves on an old tyre. This is 52 images stacked, I am quite happy with the result but have to get more practice if I want to rival some of the great shots I have seen on Flickr.

South Stack is famous as the location of one of Wales' most spectacular lighthouses, South Stack Lighthouse. It has a height of 41 metres (135 feet). It has a maximum area of 7 acres.

Until 1828 when an iron suspension bridge was built, the only means of crossing the deep water channel on to the island was in a basket which was suspended on a hemp cable. The suspension bridge was replaced in 1964, but by 1983 the bridge had to be closed to the public, due to safety reasons. A new aluminium bridge was built and the lighthouse was reopened for public visits in 1997. Thousands of people flock to the lighthouse every year, thanks to the continued public transport service from Holyhead's town centre.

There are over 400 stone steps down to the footbridge (and not, as local legend suggests, 365), and the descent and ascent provide an opportunity to see some of the 4,000 nesting birds that line the cliffs during the breeding season. The cliffs are part of the RSPB South Stack Cliffs bird reserve, based at Elin's Tower.

The Anglesey Coastal Path passes South Stack, as does the Cybi Circular Walk. The latter has long and short variants; the short walk is 4 miles long and takes around two hours to complete. Travelling from the Breakwater Country Park, other sites along the way are the North Stack Fog Signal station, Caer y Tŵr, Holyhead Mountain and Tŷ Mawr Hut Circles.

it's beautiful chaos here.

it's almost more than my boys can handle.

Lacking in inspiration today. I needed a portrait photograph of a stack of magazines for a class assignment....so....yeah.

Stacking Chairs offer a versatile seating solution where removable and portable seating is required. They are ideal for use on the flat floor area of lecture theatres or similarly in concert halls or theatres.

Canon EF 100mm f2.8 Macro is not an easy lens. The shallow DoF on this lens makes it hard to frame shots. At this time I am not sure if I have received a soft lens.

Cool construction, but skip the "nomadic museum."
