Rättvik, Dalarna, Sweden. One of over 80 horse stables for members of the congregation. The oldest stable is from the 1470's
No more concert photos, here's a photo from our walk back to the hotel. It had been raining but thankfully not as heavily as back home in Portsmouth! The Roundhouse was about half a mile from our hotel and we passed the Stables Market, Camden on our way. I'd used my camera for the best photos at the concert but now I was back to the phone shots again!
The Imperial Stables were designed by the architect Nicholas Benois and built between 1847 and 1852 in Peterhof. Huge, trapezoidal quadrilateral stables is a medieval castle on a plan. The red brick design was inspired by Hampton Court Palace.

The Jacobean house was built for George Calvert, Secretary of State to James I and founder of Maryland, USA . Kiplin Hall was built in the early 1620s as a hunting lodge. He was born at Kiplin, where his father leased land, and bought the estate in 1619.
What is unusual is that he used red bricks instead of Yorkshire stone to build his country house.
Stables in the rural hamlets of Mitgardia are small, simple structures and usually only the village Thegn and maybe some of his huscarls would own horses. Here Yngvi's black stallion named Sceadugenga or Shadow Walker is settled in for the winter in one such stable. A passing huscarl keeps a watchful gaze on the valuable animal.
Another snowy build for GoH/Summer Joust. Inspired by this 'Viking' stable.
A moment later...
Hannah: I don't know why, but I suddenly got an urge to shampoo Stella and put ribbons in her mane.
Gemma: Ha ha, how odd.
Hannah: I know right. I think I'll just rub her down before we go anyway.
Gemma: Sure. Do you think it's getting colder?
Hannah: No, not really.
A collection of images taken in the Southampton / Eastleigh area a few Sundays ago.
73107 Tracy and 73141 Spa Valley are stabled at Eastleigh Arlington workshops. The loco behind is reported as 66309, recently imported and even more recently repainted in the paintshop to the right.
Now owned by the National Trust, Seaton Delaval Hall was designed by Sir John Vanbrugh (who died two years before it was finally completed in 1728). A devastating fire badly damaged the main part of the building in 1822 and it lay open to the elements for nearly 40 years before the roof was reinstated. The interior of the main part of the building is still an empty shell.
The East Wing houses this very impressive stable block.

Hannah: She won't put in the reverse. Back up Stella!
Stella: But we're not done. I'd like to visit the new neighbor first you see.
Dolly (off screen) : Just do as the human want's silly girl, or she might not feed you.
Stella: I don't need food.
Dolly (off screen) : Lovely! You've gone bonkers over a stud you never met. I'll have your carrots then.
Stella decided to do as "the human" wanted after all.
