The magnificent structure of St Pancras station no longer sees HSTs, with this classic traction passing into history along with "Peaks" and many other traction types before them. Long before the conversion to the terminus of High Speed 1, this line-up shows 43044 Borough of Kettering, 43061 City of Lincoln with the 1530 to Sheffield, and 43046 Royal Philharmonic. Note the blue Neville Hill depot sticker below the number on the nearest power car.

43044 is now owned by the 125 Group and has been repainted into InterCity Executive livery, with plans to return a Paxman Valenta engine to the power car. 43061 was scrapped at Sims Metals in Newport in 2021, while 43046 is owned by Locomotive Services Limited as is now part of the Blue Pullman fleet.

St Pancras railway station, also known as London St Pancras and since 2007 as St Pancras International, is a central London railway terminus and Grade I listed building located on Euston Road in the St Pancras area of the London Borough of Camden.

Eurostar No. 4032 at London St Pancras station on 13 March 2025. Eurostar can reach a top speed of 300 kilometres per hour (186 miles per hour) on high-speed lines in the UK, France, Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. Going through the Channel Tunnel's a little slower - 160 km/h or 100 mph).

I will never stop being awed by the Caryatids here. At night, especially, the Greek Revival style feels like it belongs in another time, without the roaring traffic, office spaces, and budget hotels boxing it in.

Three Eurostar trainsets at St Pancras Station, London UK

There was a brief period between the break-up of British Rail in the mid-1990s and the closure of the old Midland Railway terminus for its rebirth as St. Pancras International when private-sector Midland Mainline trains could still nestle beneath Sir William Barlow’s overall roof. Midland Mainline trains were just beginning to sport their bright new colours when I captured an echelon of HSTs awaiting departure to the East Midlands and Sheffield. This is the original MML teal green and tangerine livery, designed by Ray Stenning. The colour scheme was superseded from 2001.

HST power car 43081 was the 8000th locomotive built at Crewe Works. After final withdrawal, in 2021, its owner Porterbrook Leasing presented it to the Crewe Heritage Centre.
