St Mawes Castle, an artillery fort constructed by Henry VIII, was built to defend the Carrick Roads waterway at the mouth of the River Fal.

Well the weather could have been worse I am sure !
Falmouth to St.Mawes at £4.50 this ferry saves a lot of non coastal legwork. Pity the Place ferryman had taken a sickie, that added 9 miles to the route! Ouch!
