·The first thing you will need is a texture. They are everywhere, waiting for you to capture them. Tiles, wood, lino, walls, floors, fabric, baking trays, plastic cartons, cardboard, paper, clouds, tree bark, peeling paint, tombstones, cement, etc. Just about anything can be used for a texture. Take a photo & macro comes in handy here too!!
·Once you have captured some textures, open up a texture. I’m using Photoshop CS3 Extended. (ss1)
To make a good texture, you want a good size. I know when I use a texture I like a nice large one.
I would recommend the size of your starter image be about 1900 x 1400 pixels or 1600 x 1200 pixels. I wouldn't make the size any smaller than 1000 pixels on the largest side. (This is also the minimum size required to submit to my texture group, Textures Only. We have a rule where a texture needs to be at least 1000 pixels to be allowed into the group).
